Better adaptive AI - this is a longevity thing - right now once you figure out how to beat the system is is easy pickings

More manual controls to make it harder, but also more rewarding when you get it right.

The hand holding has to stop eventually - it’s gonna be bumpy initially, but time and effort should be rewarded

Harder player and career mode - for the player, the chances of failing should be way higher. (To a point where maybe you don’t even get drafted and maybe try your luck playing a few years of VFL)

Just imagine having a player career similar to the following:

1. James Podsiadly (Geelong/Adelaide)

  • Drafted as a mature-aged rookie at 28 after years in the VFL.
  • Key forward for Geelong, played in the 2011 premiership.
  • 104 games, 195 goals.
  • Later played for Adelaide.

2. Dean Cox (West Coast Eagles)

  • Rookie-listed in 2000.
  • Became a six-time All-Australian and premiership ruckman (2006).

3. Aaron Sandilands (Fremantle)

  • Picked up as a rookie at age 18, over 200 cm tall.
  • Played 271 games and was a four-time All-Australian.

4. Matt Priddis (West Coast)

  • Rookie-listed and spent time dominating WAFL before debuting.
  • Won the Brownlow Medal in 2014.
  • 240 AFL games – known for toughness and clearances.

5. Nick Maxwell (Collingwood)

  • Rookie pick who became Collingwood’s premiership captain in 2010.
  • Played 208 games – known for leadership and intercept marking.

6. Kane Lambert (Richmond)

  • Overlooked in multiple drafts; finally picked as a mature-age rookie.
  • Played a key role in three Richmond premierships (2017, 2019, 2020).

7. Bayley Fritsch (Melbourne)

  • Originally overlooked in his draft year; came through VFL.
  • Drafted at age 20.

8. Michael Barlow (Fremantle/Gold Coast)

  • Mature-age recruit from Werribee (VFL).
  • Played 141 games.

9. Tim Kelly (Geelong/West Coast)

  • Drafted at age 23 after multiple VFL seasons.
  • All-Australian squad in first year.

10. Brodie Mihocek (Collingwood)

  • came through via VFL.

Couldn’t agree more. Imagine how insane online would be when everyone has more freedom to play exactly the way they like. I feel like it’s definitely going to happen in the long term as well, considering how well manual kicking and handballing has worked

honestly it will just be less frustration all round - having too many handholding mechanics really can spoil the game.

I honestly wouldn’t mind manual centre bounce and boundary throw ins too with a bit of variation in the bounce and throw in to spice it up.

Change your roster in the main menu before starting a management career. I put my custom player into a AFL team then started a management career. I’m only two games in loving it. The only problem would be leaving the team to go somewhere else and not being able to control what happens to your player.

@JNT_BA could we possibly get some new guernsey styles and designs that are more updated to current AFL designs compared to the ones from 23??

I’m not seeing the same.
Each update for me has been fixing up previous crashes. I’m finding it a lot more stable now.

What platform are you on?

What types of designs are you suggesting?

I just watched ā€˜Razor’s Edge’ on Fox via YouTube, and they were discussing how Sam Darcy was umpired in the marking contest last Thursday.

A few things the defenders did and got away with is currently not achievable in-game, but should.

I feel like being able to manually put some body contact on your opponent (not bumping or jostling) would be a good thing - the current system i think, is preventative of that behaviour as they are magnetised into a marking contest

jumping early against a taller player to take him out of the contest (albeit a free was given away)

The marking system is better than 23, but more freedom to do stuff like this would be nice.

Agree with you, once the current objectives are complet there really isn’t much else to grind or play for.

More objectives, maybe another online mode of some sort, I still love how the old ultimate team modes used to have those divisions 10 → 1 with 10 games to get promoted, demoted and win rewards without having to wait a week, end of season for the payout.

So much potential with the mode, the more content pumped into it the better

Collared guernsey styles, updated collars with the 2025 guernseys, some updated designs (for example the new bulldogs clash guernsey the the stripes slanted slightly or even the freo stealth guernsey design with the chevrons being outlined). just things like that would be awesome.

Yeah. I’d also like to be able to move the numbers and/or have then on the front.

Is there a reason why every time I play premiership challenge I will be up in the game and then it randomly signs me out of PSN but takes me straight to the pro team menu :sob::person_facepalming: Also, K was up by 7 or 8 goals. Every other mode works perfectly fine for me on pro team so can’t be a internet issue

Really like the fatigue animation with players unable to sprint to get to the ball…awesome. Hopefully this is in RL26.

Had an absolute pearler of a moment in a game last night. Was streaming out of defence about to hit up a lead between half back and the wing. As I release the kick - ping! The bloke leading does his hammy, grabs at it and the ball goes straight over his head to his opponent, and a turnover results. Cracked up as I saw the guy start to hobble off..
