Cricket 26 - Megathread

Yes to both of those

Not sure why this has been ignored, this is one of the most obvious issues with the game and always has been since DB14

Plz fix the lofted pull shot, it severely lacks trajectory, it just doesn’t gain any height on ideal timing even with power boost set to max value, it barely crosses the rope on small grounds, doesn’t go over the rope on big grounds, why do big shots no longer go into the crowd, they just cross the ropes, highly unrealistic

This wasn’t the problem when game released, it’s happened since last few updates

England team selection in player career is bizarre. Jason Roy is always selected and is always batting at number 11.

Hey dev team,Please resolve the issue of fast bowling just keep on bowling at off side whole innings… No leg stump or in wickets just bowling off side al the time please resolve this one please

Hello Developer Team, thank for all the hard work you’re putting in making this game and improving it patch by patch, but I am not sure why Commentators are not acknowledged when Batsman reaches a milestone. Initially when the game was launched, it was there. But now it never happens. Please take a look.

Thanks

Hi the game is good but can we take the commentators acknowledge milestones like 50’s, 100’s or 400’s cause I’m currently playing player career mode and not once were my half centuries or centuries acknowledged

Hi @MattW

Please bring the game back to the Day 01 patch. It was wonderful back then!

@MattW It would be great if we were able to customise the teams and player names in club career mode. Whilst obviously the club portion of the career isn’t intended played for as long, it would be much better if you could actually customise the teams, and the players. Often a lot of players of Cricket 26 already play cricket themselves for a club, and being able to make their authentic club with the actual players they know would be so beneficial. Also potentially having some of these teammates join you as you go up through the ranks. The ability to customise the club players, and even the club opposition players would be a much needed addition to add some depth to the club section of career mode.

Cheers

As noted above - AI Team Selection in management mode is the biggest issue in the game right now. It has gotten slightly better since recent patches but there are still significant issues. For Example England still selecting Jason Roy at 11 and rolling out the same side irrespective of conditions making 5 match series incredibly boring to play. For me this renders this mode completely unplayable in its current state. There is such an easy work around for this - allow us to change opposition teams in this mode in the match set up screen. This will add significant realism to this mode as the user can pick teams which reflect reality rather than the AI purely picking of ratings.

Agree. Ive tried playing as WA again in management mode and the issue still persists when you get to selecting first class line up you’re cant choose from your entire squad. Only about 16 players, many of those would never appear in a Sheffield Shield line up (Like Jason Behrendorff who doesn’t even play for WA anymore).

Does anyone remember Ricky Ponting Cricket 2005? It had this confidence meter system that I thought worked really well. This could be filled up by bowling good deliveries and mainly not letting the batsmen score off you. Once the confidence meter filled up you got access to one of your secret bowling deliveries which you can use once, and would lead to increased chance of a wicket if bowler confidence > batsmen. Some applied to batsmen - they could increase confidence hitting boundaries and occupying the crease. Batsmen con > bowler con = better chance at making runs.

Anyway, for what its worth I’ve been designing a text based cricket game just on Chat GPT incorporating a similar confidence based system. It also takes into account real life batsmen and bowler form, weather conditions, pitch conditions, light. It gives colourful, simple text based commentary. There is user input with bowlers deciding on the aggressiveness of field set, and line and length prior to each ball or over bowled. Batsmen input their level of aggression. I’ve incorporated into it modifiers with setting batsmen up, risk/reward (eg: breaking the shackles). All the factors that go into it effect the probability of wickets and runs, and batsman and bowler confidence. Its based on probability only, no scripting. I’ve made it so there’s an actual purpose to bowling to a plan and batting at a set mentality. Conditions also have a huge, natural effect. Weather changes, conditions change over the course of a match.

Quite enjoying playing it on my lunch break lol. And it was really simple and fun to work on. Im still working on it. Another good thing about it is you can select any lineup you want. How a player performs is literally influenced by their real-time stats and form.

hi @RossSymons @MattW Thanks for changing Dasun Shanaka’s name as I requested, but you forgot to update his jersey name. Can you pls change it to ‘ DASUN ‘.

The game is overall the best Cricket from Big Ant yet, but unfortunately have been having some issues.

Have just been playing two player local multiplayer. We were trying to play as two of my New Zealand Domestic sides and my team was fine. My friend who was the second player had all different names (the original unlicensed) for their whole team.

Also we noticed two more things. Both of us found the selected difficulty much harder than it was in single player to bat for some reason. It definitely wasn’t the difficulty level we selected, as we both tested it in single player and it was back to normal.

The other issue was a lot of relay throws happening. At first I thought my friend was hitting square for relay throw, but they insisted that they were using X. So when it was my time to field, the exact same thing was happening.

Is there any advice for these situations, or are we likely to have to wait for a patch that might resolve some 2 player local multiplayer issues? Thanks for the generally great patches that there have been out for Cricket to date. Enjoying the game for the most part!

Is it possible to make the pitch wearing on custom grounds as playing a game on created stadiums the pitch stays the same for the whole game. Whether it’s a Test, ODI or T20

As someone who has Cricket24, is it worth the purchase of Cricket26 yet, or is there still a lot to fix that would leave me frustrated?

Test match and domestic crowds are too loud and energetic compared to realistic crowds. Attendance and behavior of crowd(such as screaming and clapping) should be adjusted to matches the feel of a Test, domestic and club match(lower attendance and applause-dominating rather than screaming)

Small cosmetic changes that I’d love to see edited because I’m weird.

Can you change Harry Brooks gloves to match his bat? Same with Roots pads. Also Matt Renshaw has gray nics gloves/pads and a DSC bat. Or even better, allow us to edit pads/gloves.

Travis head batting style when you play a leg glance to a fuller ball a lot of the time it hits the ball but not showing the animation.

Please let us choose a squad for test championship when playing as one team

I am wondering does anybody know if any other teams / players are getting photogrammetry faces soon?

Okay, for me the main problem is playing CPU spin and I think it breaks the game. I never play on anything less than Hardest or Hard, and have generally enjoyed the vanilla game and the patches although the patches have altered the original game state mechanics somewhat I feel.

Playing v pace has been varied (across vanilla and then adjusting to patches) but what breaks my enjoyment is when Nathan Lyon comes on and you literally can’t get him off the square unless you rely on sweep and reverse sweep. Hitting down the ground is virtually impossible as the animations just break, and the pitch marker isn’t sufficiently timed well enough to decide on length anyway.

IRL, green decent length should be driveable to time, and the ability to hit the ball WITH the spin to the leg side should be much easier if the off spinner is ragging it. So shots through mid on or working to mid wicket off the green length should be much much easier. But for this you have to stand about a yard outside off stump, which I do believe the vanilla day one game wasn’t the case.

It also seems to be that almost always you play the straight drive too or cover drive too early for what the ball in flight looks like it should, resulting in constant getting bowled ‘through the gate’. It’s as if the animations and button press and shot selection all crash and the right handed batsmen just gets bowled all the time.

Now, you could say, get good. You could say, just use sweeps. But that’s avoiding the problems. If you reduced the difficulty, it becomes way too easier against the quicks.

So it’s really a catch 22 at the moment where against a right handed off spinner v right handed bat, it’s almost impossible to score unless it’s a sweep.

Just my two cents.
