Cricket 26 was really good at launch i must say that. That vanilla version really had everything batting was challenging dismissals were much natural. It looked less scripted. But after that they just gave up because people demanded easy batting and other things which just made it more scripted than before. If they would have not given up and continued with the same build just fixing the issues in the vanilla version like i remember there was bullet shot issue at launch. And few more issues in fielding and other stuff but over all it was much much better than it has become now. This game had all the potential to become one of the best cricket game but it lost its way just because Dev’s don’t have believe on their own product and gave up to certain demand and just ended up creating a mess.
I don’t blame Dev’s here because at the end they need to satisfy people and give them what they want. If they get majority of tickets saying we can’t a hit a six, batting too hard they are left with no options other than making it scripted.
People should also understand that not every game can be stick cricket where you just want to smash everything. If you can’t bat at hardest difficulty lower down difficulty to easy/medium learn to bat at that difficulty first then move up. That will give you real joy rather than having hardest difficulty tweaked and made more scripted.
But now I am also thinking to uninstall this game if they don’t improve fielding and gameplay. I am better off playing Cricket 24 atleast that game had everything.

I agree with you on nearly everything except this:

It is still 100% on the devs
If they cannot make changes without fundamentally breaking subsystems, then they should not be in software delivery.
If tweaking AI was so problematic that it broke the game, it was poorly coded in the first place.
I agree that caving in to the loud voices is a mistake, but that can never be an excuse for shipping a broken, defect riddled, joke of a product, especially for the price they are asking.
Stop giving these companies a free pass, demand quality for your money!

It’s interesting you mention batting and people complained they couldn’t hit a 4 or a 6. I remember reading a lot of those comments scratching my head. I never had a problem. But then I knew through trial and error the strengths and weaknesses of batting styles 1-5(except 4.. I never got on with that one) after years and thousands of hours playing C19 22 24 and 26.
I assume most complaining about not being able to hit those shots don’t know not every batting style has differences. I can’t speak for the new styles being added. But just a example. Bat style 3 can launch the ball over boundary at cover and square. But majority of time gets caught on boundary playing Hook/Pull. Whereas batting style 5. Does the opposite. Smashes hook/ pull and glance but gets caught in covers and square. So trick is to play to their strengths. However now the batting is so easy any shot i play provided I pick the right length and time it right will majority of time atleast get a one bounce 4. Batting has become boring and bowling infuriating. Rarely any edges to slip or keeper. Bowled or Lbw and no C&B
Also think your players height and body type makes a difference when batting. Slim shortish build seems more agile but lacks power. Muscular taller more power but slower to react. I could be wrong and might just be me but that’s how it feels to me. But if I’m right the devs should explain it in the game tutorials

That has been an issue they never really gave any detailed info if batting styles really made any difference for the shots that we can play, similarly they introduced archetype mechanism which I loved by the way because I really missed this uniqueness for each player in Cricket 24. But again they did not give any proper information about them how these archetypes will change their mindset in different formats. Upto this day I still don’t know what are differences between various bowling archetypes do they make any difference or they are just scripted the same way to bowl. What bowling archetype should I prefer suppose if I want to defend 7 runs in last over .
I believed that experimenter bowling archetype should be the one who tries variations more often then bowling stock delivery but it doesn’t seem that way.
So there are lot of things which they never clarified and it just our assumptions.

When it comes to bowling archetypes I really have no clue. As my player is a fast bowling all rounder. I tend to pick strike hoping it does what the description says. Leads the attack with short spells but gets taken of if doesn’t take wicks or something. I pick bowling all rounder simply because batting is so easy now I don’t need big battting skills as a top order batter. But that said my bowling skills delivery and control are over 80 and still can’t take a wickets. Whereas as my batting skills are around 50-60 and I can score big big runs
ive also found bowling types vary aswell in your ability to take wickets. Jimmy Anderson (Star 3 I think) good at good and full length swingers. Stuart Broad(star 4 I think) good as full and good length in swingers/ off cutters. Archer good at short and Yorker length( I do get occasional bowled provided I fire it in at batters toes. Normally hits toes then onto stumps.

@MattW When next patch coming ? Please this team give us patch for only gameplay improvements and fielding improvements
I genuinely dislike the batting archetypes, I feel bowling becomes frustrating bcoz the archetype are so hard coded to do specific jobs, early on it was exciting how each type would work through gears, strike rotators & anchors were challenge coz they were tricky to dismiss, they would bat long & really take on bowlers in death, but now they take 50 balls to score 50 runs in T20, playing out maiden overs in 16th over, literally defending a half volley, that’s just pure garbage, at least score 85-90 if AI is playing those many balls, scoring 6 runs in 45th over if it’s ODIs
Power hitters & counter attackers still look the best coz they give that feel of going through the gears, flex & finesse are good for ODIs not much for T20Is but still better than other two

Yeah that’s actually a drawback of having archetypes. Although I would never want certain archetype to be handicapped in certain format. They should be flexible according to the format and according to the situation but since that’s not the case it’s better to stick with counter attackers,Power hitters,All out aggressors for limited overs format. That’s something even I raised ticket for it multiple times but nothing has been done regarding that. And I don’t think they have any plans to code these archetypes again. Atleast they have unlocked Archetypes for licensed players that is more than enough for me i can change them according to the format.

I hate bowling to Brick walls. But I hate more is having one as my batting partner. Amount of times I’ve had 100 run partnerships with one when I’ve scored 95% of the runs

None of them matter in simulated games in tournament anyway, irrespective of archetype they play at very slow rate, there will be at least one player who plays less than a run a ball in such games, others aren’t much better either in strike rate
I don’t know how archetypes affect bowling but it definitely affects AI’s bowling selection, for some reason main bowlers don’t finish their quota while part timers bowl more overs & in ODIs pure batters bowling overs for no reason, spinners bowling in death almost all the time

I just got the game on PS5 and already got hit with the corrupted save data bug when downloading teams from the academy, does anyone know of a workaround for it? Thanks
Welcome to the cricket 26 community,
Developers can fix this , everyone here is waiting for new patch update. Then you can something to expect.
Had this a few months ago. Very annoying.
Just need to download teams in smaller batches, 5-10 at a time, save, exit game, restart., seems to work.
This game needs some MAJOR attention
I managed to squeeze in as much Fatigue Management as possible, this time I managed to bat, once, and was then retired hurt for 3rd and 4th innings + 10 days
This is beyond stupid
The AI is absolute dog-water bad
The non-striker will just stand there and allow a ball to hit them straight off the bat, robbing the team of runs
The fielders still have laser accuracy on the stumps, from anywhere, unless they throw to the player bowling, when they decide to throw to where the player finished their follow-through instead of the stumps, resulting in 4 overthrows.
Batting is 26 is just bad, I miss a late cut and the feedback tells me I tried a leg-side shot… what?!
Most if this could be overlooked, with some serious eye-rolls. if the game was fun, but its not, it fails on every level to actually be fun (if you want to focus on career mode).
Its painfully clear that no decision maker here has ever played cricket, and I am seriously doubtful that they even watch cricket, and now that C24 is leaving PS+ at the end of the month, my journey with BigAnt is very close to a painful end.
Another Thursday another pro team update. No signs for any gameplay update.
@MattW when the next patch is coming?
