Very good patch…gameplay starting to get ther now!Well done.

Positives for me

1)Ai starting to play fairly good challenging rugby.

2)The Ai taking scrums issue finally seems to be resolved…thannks for that!

3)Ai starting to kick in general play a bit more…once again very well done!

4)Passing from the ruck seems faster and also not just scrumhalf passing from ruck which is a good thing …asked for this ,glad to see you guys did some work on that!Thanks.

Negatives for me

1)Please look at this huge irritating ability of the Ai being able to allmost allways break the first tackle either with a hand off or the tackler simply just falling off the atacking player…this has to happen at times yes but not everytime!

2)Offloads on Ai side are too frequent and has to change…make them more difficult to be successful…maybe if player is in a bad posistion while being tackled the offload might go forward or the ball goes to ground instad of directly into next players hands?

3)When on attack players need to start running at pace onto passes please…When i attacking it feels like the game is holding me back from getting fast front foot ball with momentum.

4)I still feel that player posistioning could be better when on attack…players often are a bit too deep and bunched up other times they are just too flat and wide…please look into this guys

  1. I have the same issue when defending,players are often bunched up close or to wide out leaving huge gaps for Ai to exploit…this also has to do with my previous point about Ai handing off the first defender or being constantly able to stick the offload…this puts my defensive line under huge pressure because every tackle has to be a double tackle because of first tackle allways being broken.

6)Is it possible to get the defensive line to drift a bit more according to Ai attack when you have not yet selected a player to control for making the tackle?Noticed on a few occasions when Ai attacks in one direction my defense seems to run and drift in the oposite direction also sometimes 2 players would just run straight forward on defense instead of drifting sideways with the Ai attack.

7)Stamina seems to drain way too quickly when on attack and running …please look into this as well cause this also ties in with a previous point i made about not being able to get fast go forward momentum on attack again it feels like the game wants to hold you back a bit if that makes sense.

Overall another step in the right direction…ai are much better on attack,no more constant scrums, more going for touch and poles so thats a huge positive for me.

Just need to get them to do grubbers and up and unders in the midfield on ocasion and then i think the Ai being more versatile and challenging would be allmost there…for me atleast.

Gameplay is still gooched. Just a boring offload fest from the AI until you get a random ruck turnover (when the game decides when you get it). Players just standing around with no interest in joining the ruck. Scrums are gooched. Lineouts are gooched. Box kicks are gooched. The game is not enjoyable to play.

Maybe just me and playing on side camera but Easy has become so so hard again, moving down to Easiest.

I wouldn’t say it is a great update for me personally but looks like I have been outvoted this time by community, which I accept, going to try easiest but easy now seems to hard , getting turned over at nearly ruck I go into

The players need to join the ruck faster…ive had this issue of them standing around not joiing on a number of occasions!

Yes i agree 100% with you on the ruck and offload issue
Also the fend on every tackle…fends and offloads need to be toned down a fair bit

The ruck joining aspects need to speed up!

Yes user controlled players are slow to join the ruck when bind is pressed hard and a lot

I also think AI too strong at the rucks again the balance at ruck was better before and I was playing easiest again

On hard difficulty sure make it tough a lot people here want that but on lower difficulty don’t make it just as hard

I’m hoping on Thursday they make easiest a little easier again and have nicer ruck binds like as we had before today

Yes i find on side cam its more even contest. Behind cam i find to easy. Worth a try until AI gets truly challenging.

Is it possible that your saved Career, possibly existing before this patch, hasn’t absorbed the changes from this patch?

Enjoying the update and in particular AI speed at receving the ball is improved and the offloads creating more of a challenge. Potentially controversial but like that you often need two players to fully tackle a player, adds realism.

Would be nice to see in future updates:

  • Ruck pick and gos for forwards only
  • Players joining rucks quicker, ideally up to 5 players but will take quicker ruck speed
  • Fix offsides when players have not retreated (especially during long kicking phases, as this is very realistic feature but made difficult when players are able to play offside)
  • AI passing more and kicking for territory, grubbers, up and unders, etc. Remember AI kicking was good in EA3
  • AI box kicks outside of own 22
  • Set piece formations and plays
  • More realistic side step / fend animation speed so defenders don’t always catch up
  • Increased incidence of knock ons
  • Quick change of players in lineup (eg press Y for players in similar positions)
  • Any advertising on screens when not playing in competition mode (Big Ant, completely fabricated, etc)
  • Always showing opposition team players HUD
  • More notification when a turnover occurs, crowd noise, or referee, or commentators

FYI Had a crash when a player got injured and then tried to offload - England v France at Twickers

Steam V 1.0.3096, played on hardest and online

Nice patch, a lot of stability issues addressed.

AI on hardest is more challenging, mainly because it can escape so many tackles by special moves, but still not decision making enough.
Playing online, the invincible ball carrier still happens with multiple players unable to tackle. Against AI it felt more like just a few guys couldn’t tackle but ended up being able to tackle (could the ā€œhitboxā€ for the chasing tackle be a bit too small, i don’t know, sometimes still felt like running through guys that i couldn’t tackle).
The attack flow is reasonable on this update, online outlines how overpowered the offload is. Some good tackles should prevent those or cause a forward, animation based would be awesome (tackle on the legs allows for a great offload, arms wrapped no offload or forward if insisted button smashing).

Defense is complicated. As explained previously, the automatic player selection often doesnt select the closest player, nor the most natural. When a ball carrier tries to go for the gap, when the automatic selection has to choose between two defenders, it often chooses the farthest from the ruck instead of the closest. But i want to defend with the player closer from the ruck, the defender on the inside shoulder of the attacker. I will try to catch up on him and if i see that i will get oupaced, i will switch to the player on his outside shoulder to close the gap. Right now automatic player selection doesnt take in account the fact that i’m already aiming to run on the outside by holding left stick. This means that when i press automatic player selection , i drag my defender away from the attacker and open a gap for him. Playing online you can really feel the lack of intuitive defense and the poor player coordination. Last defenders sometimes seem to run away from the ball carrier, chasing arent very smart at the moment, i’m hoping this will improve too.

Now the main issues remaining: rucks, mauls, set plays, lineout combinations, and all the special moves.

Rucks still feel random. You can have 3 defenders against none for a full second and still can’t get the steal. Also players still stand around the ruck before entering, both in attack and defense.
Mauls are depressing. And pointless. Please sort those out, would love to be able to use them, both in attack and defense.
All the special moves need to be addressed, wont repeat what everyone’s been saying for ages now.
I would like to be able to choose what kind of tackle i’m doing and feel a difference. Bigs dont impact the game.

And player names during the game. How come some teams have all their roster shown when playing and others are face scanned fully licensed and all but still gets called Prop instead of his name…
And career mode. Still don’t know how it works.

What’s in there is almost stabilized. But it is still so far from finished, and online is so frustrating because all the small bugs remaining kill all competitiveness.

Now that other games have been announced (Rugy league, AFL), could we have a roadmap for what the next big steps will be for Rugby 25 ? I know some people would like to join the community but they know better than to buy this game while it is in this condition. Anyway we could reassure them ?

It is a brand new career. I always restart every patch. Restarted another and first three games of the season all wins by 45 points or more. AI only scored in one of the matches :smiling_face_with_tear: Won another match by 70 something.

I wish it was just a bad save file :sweat_smile:

Playing on Medium difficulty for now.

Overall brilliant update for me, it feels more difficult to break the line and score freely and I actually managed to have a few games on the edge of my seat. I’m playing career with The Sharks and went up 35-0 at half time against Cardiff, but goodness knows what that coach told those guys in the locker room because I found myself level 35-35 with 10 minutes to go, only managing to score in the corner with the clock in the red, winning 42-35. Next I had the Bulls who made me work with them leading 17-14 with 60 minutes on the clock, again, I managed to score with about 5 minutes left and won 17-21. This was what I’ve been yearning for, now please add the atmosphere needed in the game when it gets as close as this. The crowd is so boring, the commentators, oh boy the commentators.

Another thing I found quite annoying is that changing to a player on defence never seems to change to the most obvious choice, looking at the player you would expect to be the next obvious choice to change to and then find yourself running the complete opposite way because it changed to a guy way down the defence line is very annoying. Also, where is the Fullback on defence? Why can a player that broke my line still run almost the length of the field before the Fullback realizes that he probably needs to come up and make a tackle?

Drop goals are not working, the ball barely lifts of the ground and just gets caught by the opposition gratefully plucking a free gift out of the air 10 meters down the field.

The defence around the ruck need to be better please, I still find myself picking the ball and running 30 - 40 meters untouched.

Just another question for career mode, if I accept an international coaching offer from a weaker nation, will I still get offers from the bigger nations later, or should I just keep declining until I get the team I want?

Mmm it’s something I had a discussion about today among some other things with rucks. We certainly don’t want it going really far back to early EA version where you would get super speed occurring and them zipping from around the field. But it’s something we certainly want to look at since lots of people have mentioned it.
