Rugby 25 Megathread

Over 2 thousand posts and this forum is, just like the patches, going around in circles. I’ve come to the conclusion that I made a mistake purchasing this game. I’ll put it down to experience and will be more cautious before laying out my Dosh on another rugby game.

Lot’s of well meaning posters here stating what might improve this or that…stadiums…player faces…gripsocks…team squads…grass texture…countdown to kick off…all great suggestions…but the fundamental core rugby union gameplay is just gooched. It’s not even fun to play!

Good luck to the folks who will play on…but I’ve decided enough is enough and will no longer play the game thank you.

Tuesday patch has caused a game breaking custom teams play now glitch and all playfaces to stop working

This was a weak patch not properly given care and has broken previously working features players rely upon

This is disappointing

Big Ant should stop listening to the 08 fan club, because you have a licensed game now.
If 08 was so great why don’t they rant adout 2011 that was the same developers as 08
Other rugby games was heavily underrated like 22 and challenge.
If you could have combined those 2 games gameplay whould have been perfect imo.

But since we are stuck with thus heavily frustrating game with great licensing please listen to some of my recommendations.

Rucking should definitely change in a risk reward system
For example 22s rucking wasn’t that bad and had a strategical approach toward it.
Passing: challenge had the best looking passing mechanic, if you looked at the player movement you could see its a real rugby pass

I have to compliment that the tackling doesn’t look that bad

If these things can’t be fixed please make the AI more challenging with gameplay sliders

I notice most of the feedback and result is “tuning” things.

Sliders would allow us customers to tune the game to our liking while Big Ant can focus on bugs and new features.

Name another Big Ant sports game that doesn’t have sliders??? Cricket has them. Tiebreak has them added…Afl 23? Or any recent sports game for that matter??? Even Rugby Challenge had sliders that fixed a lot of complaints on gameplay.

Camera additions, sliders and pitch markings would go a long way to immediately show everyone game is being worked on. BIG Thanks to @JntBA , THE Admin for coming in and facing up to us.

BA should focus on their Tiebreak Tennis game, it has potential ,Rugby was not and will never be great success for them… they will just keep releasing patches for 12 months till the game is barely playable

I honestly just believe they don’t have the ability to make a better game.
Unless they get new talent or something, BA won’t last much longer.

I have never seen such a bad release before after such a long delay.

I can’t imagine the state rugby was in when Ross tweeted it’s going well?

Hi everyone

Today I am going to be leaning towards the negative side.

This game, with all its licenses and potential is turning out to be a bitter disappointment. Week after week, patch after patch it seems we are going around in circles. With every patch note that gets released we get these one liners with the ever-present “Improved Stability” to finish it off. We have no idea what is being worked on as no one bothering to engage every now and then is authorized to give us these answers. At the end of the day this game was released at full price and its encouraging that it is still receiving updates but at this point it’s just becoming unacceptable.

In the early access stage I gave a few of my ideas on the atmosphere and build-up to a match, but I realize now that I was very naive in thinking that would be possible. There aren’t even any national anthems, no Haka, no World Cup, Currie Cup, Rugby Championship, NPC. I can’t even name my custom tournament for crying out loud. What was I thinking suggesting having a panel of pundits discussing the intro, half time, and after the game?

The crowd and the commentary, I will say no more.

I still cannot score a drop goal, the height at which that ball lifts off the ground, I could be forgiven in thinking I might have pressed the grubber button.

I tried passing the ball to the square marked player who was in the process of moving from the one side of the ruck to the other, only to watch the ball shoot backwards about 80m across the dead ball line, I kid you not, and this happened twice! I guess it was my fault for thinking I can create momentum with some quick ball out of the ruck because who does that?

My whole backline drifts towards the ball carrier on defence because who says the opposition must create their own overlap? Switching to a defender makes no sense because it switches to a completely irrelevant defender most of the time, it even switches to the guy who just got sat down and is still laying on the ground!

It’s impossible to miss a kick at goal. Kicking in general is just useless because who does that in a rugby game anyway?

There are so many things mentioned above that I could go on with but I will stop here. We got sold a Porche without its engine.

Have a good day all.

One week they nerve the fend, next week they buff it. Going in circles.

Big Ant should just give everyone the option to get a refund!

So we can move on from this fail.

But they won’t because 80% will ask for a refund.

Its just disgraceful how the game is going backwards with every second patch, @JNT_BA @MattW you were able to add sliders for AFL 23, why not do it for Rugby25, you still haven’t fixed the inverted kicking for players kicking to touch, still cant kick to the closest touchline from 5 meters out, offsides still being called for forward passes, no real advantages when going past the offside line, AI hardly ever offside or conceding penalties, how can we not add or extract players from the ruck, how is up and unders still not fixed, the pocket player not fixed. Still not able to add real/licensed players to other teams or custom teams. Like what are you guys fixing for real? AI passing once and only making contact. You guys shouldve never released the game or not for 2025 and this still at full price. The gameplay of rugby 22 and rugby 20 is even better than this

Really these stuff have been talked about last year in Early access stages…We don’t know if they listen to us on this forum for ideas but it seems they just doing what is best for them.We not angry enough guys but a huge dissapointment.Where does all these bugs coming from, its broken the game that we payed for full price and its not even complete…For years we have..On Squidgamers channel when he visited the team alot of promising stuff were said from CEO.
I just a huge flawless thing when we said put in slider for offloads,Fend offs, bump offs,Knock-ons,High tackles freqeuncies is really that hard…The trailer show us the ads and field marks in Superugby competition and more but nothing…its been almost a year since Early Access has been released no significant changes on gameplay, crowd atmosphere,Build -Up presentation,Subs cutscnenes/Injury cutscnes, correct TMO calls…Oh the rucks have been talked about since forever,The kicks, high balls is all is just useless no rewards in that box kick or high ball kicks…No setplays,no back door pass from 1-3-3-1 formation…No realisitic charge down animations…no mark calls what is this a rugby demo or league simulation

Hey team @JNT_BA

Not going to give feedback on things that need to be added, fixed and improved to the game as have already done that on plenty of occasions and people continue to mention those things everyday. Feedback hasn’t changed, all those issues brought up are still holding the game back from any major improvement.

Has the game gotten better since it was released, yes. Is the game where you think it would be after 17 updates, no where close.

I think you would take a lot of pressure off yourselves if you released a roadmap. Players would stop bombarding you with feedback, and constantly repeating themselves as they would know these gameplay issues are going to be addressed at some stage. They are getting sick of repeating it, and you must be getting sick of rereading the same stuff being brought up. No communication just creates a divide between the developer and the player base.

There needs to be some clear communication. At the end of the day, the game was released unfinished. It’s up to you to fix it and bring it up to a good enough standard. You’ve got to finish what you start and obviously take pride in that, as it’s your company’s name labeled on the game. At the moment it looks like you’ve released it unfinished, made it look nice with licences, photogrammetry etc but the gameplay is broken. E.g The attacking tactics don’t work and the formations don’t change when you change tactic, what is the point of trying to have them in the game if they have no affect whatsoever?

It looks like your team have taken the focus off rugby 25 and put full focus on the rugby league game. Is that an unfair thing to say? Probably, but if there isn’t any clear communication and the patches are the same every week, what do you expect. Are people in this forum being a bit harsh and impatient, maybe, but you can’t blame them when there is no communication of what is actually being worked on, and considering there has been 17 updates and they have all pretty much been slight tweaks with no major change to gameplay is quite hard to comprehend. Most games that release patches, have massive fixes to gameplay within the first couple of patches. Can understand why, updates to player face scans etc take time but gameplay shouldn’t be on the 17th update and still not have any major improvement.

Hope you guys can sort this out and get this game to where it should be, especially before you release the rugby league game, as its not a good look

@JNT_BA So far on all difficulties AI v AI is playing like a Rugby League game with unlimited tackles.

That’s what it looks like and it’s not good considering this is meant to be a Union game.

Passing is missing again and it seems to be scrum half passes to waiting player who then barrels into the opponent’s defenders. They will on occasion offload the ball in the tackle.

Also when the defending team are in their own 22, they try and pass the ball out rather than box kick.

Surely teams in that position would be looking to clear asap.

Unfortunately it’s a step back from last week’s patch as far as I’m concerned.

Everyone else all have valid points too and after 17 updates we are still a long way off getting the game playing correctly.

It’s a shame especially after paying full price on launch day for PS5 in the reluctant hope the game would function somewhat like a game of Rugby Union.

I’m not mad, I’m not having a go, I’m just telling you how it is at the moment bud. Im sure it will come good and I still have faith. However, something needs to change with how you guys are implementing the gameplay patches. At the moment it’s just not working.

I’ll leave it there mate. Thank you very much for your input and trying to answer us all with what you can, or aloud to reply with.
