Some of the achievements are broken on Xbox right now, 800 tackles and 200 tries being among them, people have unlocked them on that platform before so my guess is one of the recent updates has broken those achievements.
I tried Wallaroos Vs Welsh woman on CPU, it crashes every time before game launches.
Tried it 5 times. Instant crash
I wasnât able to play the game for the last week until today so I missed the issues with the patch from Wednesday.
But playing today I have to be honest I donât really understand all the applause the game is receiving. Playing the recent hot fix patch on PS5 and on hardest I find it way to easy to score and now my game crashes almost every other game I play.
I read someone say a good point. First we get a patch that takes us 5 steps back and then we get a patch that takes us 3 steps forward. I really want this game to be fun and challenging but it just isnât.
Wow, I played this morning with the new patch and I have to say that the game is really improved and I would even say that I found it great. I noticed that small updates are often the best but what a change. The ruck system is very good for me and please donât touch it anymore!!! we finally have the right system. The game today is clearly at its best level and I hope that there will be no going back. The potential of the game is enormous, for me the last big project concerns the AI, then it will only be a matter of adjustments to find the right balance but in any case thank you Big ant for the work done, it was hard but here we are, we are getting there, I canât wait for Wednesday now
Currently having a game on hard on the PS5, Tonga vs France, getting a hiding currently, half time is 17-5 for France, struggling to keep or regain possession at the rucks, which makes sense and what I like, because France is more competitive than Tonga currently. Sometimes the players do bunch at the ruck when removing them and when you pass the ball you sometimes pass against the player @JNT_BA , but really great update and fix.
I realized the game doesnt end when getting a penalty on half time anymore, good one, now just for some basic rules, offside advantages, being able to tackle with an offside player, maybe some ball spills in tackles for knock-ons.
Lets see what next Wednesday holds for us, thumbs for this weeks updates!
After the game updated did you do something else like turn off your console and turn it back on?
Iâm curious because the game, for me, isnât as good as youâre saying it is. But Iâd like to be has happy as you are with it.
I just had a System update on my Console, and then the Patch update on the game, I would like the AI to pass more as they hit the gap though.
@JNT_BA what I realised now at the rucks, when on defense, the removal of players from the ruck is the same as unbinding players, and sometimes its just changing to players in the ruck and not removing them, is that something you can maybe look at? X button on PS5 is unbind player, but also change to closest player
Played the update patch for PC released yesterday.
My career mode crashed to desktop when signing a player after loading into it.
It did not happen when I skipped on a few days and then signed a new player.
Playing on Easy in career mode. I am the team in red. I had possession of the ball when I got tackled. The team in black lined up like this in defense. In the previous ruck and next ruck they lined up like a normal defense.
Also they have a better attack shape in this screenshot than my team ever has had.
A lot of the time at rucks, I would end up passing the ball directly into my players who just stand beside the ruck as a pillar guard. Too many players just standing around the ruck for no reason.
Again, like in previous posts my scrum half has to wait 3 or 4 seconds before being able to pass the ball from a ruck. It is frustrating to see the animation of the ball being placed and it is available and my scrum half canât pass it.
For career mode, I finished my season and won the URC, but I donât get any points to upgrade my coaching staff⌠why is that? How can I make my coaching staff better?
I do the weekly trainings but I donât see my players overall increase. Give some sort of indication or regression please.
Hi Team , Patch Feedback. PS5 Hardest Difficulty. Coach Career. Super Rugby
Also Womenâs 6 Nations Competition.
This is a very positive step with the latest update. The best update I have seen to this game. Itâs very challenging on Hardest difficulty. A good thing.
I played my most challenging and enjoyable match today. Western Force vs Brumbies. It had a lot of Trys being scored and the lead changing between both teams at different times in the match.
Injuries did occur in both teams and the Ai replaced multiple injured players in correct positions with bench players.
Rucks more balanced and I am learning to hold the ball more pressing the button to try to stop a ruck turnover. Ai making some improved decisions to attack, seems like the players are running faster and very intent / focused to run and get to the try goal line. Itâs good. I was scrambling to keep my defence up in both matches. Passing is happening and offloads.
Womens 6 Nations I observed Ai putting on Ai substitutions for fatigued players in various positions but didnât t see this In the Super Rugby game yet. But very good to see you are trying to improve this.
The Stamina is now more balanced. Half time , stamina do not go back to 100% anymore. This is excellent.
Thanks also for adding Vincent Tshituka to Sharks team along with Phatu Ganyane with a ticket I raised a few weeks ago.
Well done with the update The game feels like it can really move forward to be fun and challenging.
Yeah, so update is right direction, but still not very good as a game. Not fun, and still get those weird passes that ping 50 metres into touch.
Back to RLL4 for me. Losing faith unfortunately.
Anybody having problems with the lighting when playing at BATH at night ?
Forsyth Barr Stadium Highlanders ground has had lighting issues also. The stands are also not open on one end as IRL.
Set Play System
@JNT_BA do we have any more indication on what the set play system will look like once implemented?
My thoughts are that the set play system is a potentially make or break moment for the game. I think if done correctly, it has the chance to revolutionise the gameplay with a single system addition.
I have never actually played the RLL series, but from some of the clips Iâve seen and the gifs shared a few posts up, it does present a much more crisp game model. Itâs so frustrating to me that players passing the ball in RLL4 actually draw their hands to the side when loading up for a pass, but for some reason this system hasnât made it to Rugby 25. It looks a million times better and actually allows some element of nuance with the timing of a pass release to open gaps. Anyway, I digressâŚ
I think the major frustration with back play in Rugby 25 distills down to two main issues:
- Backs are often not in the right place
- They do not run coherent lines or patterns
This leaves you with a system where you simply pass across the line repeatedly, no crash balls, no loops, no misdirection, no timing, no nuance. This of course affects the AI play too, where they barely pass the ball at all.
A great set play system could fix this in one fell swoop, affecting the game positively in many areas. My sincere hope is that set plays are not confined to purely being used after a set piece (line out, scrum etc.). This would be a huge mistake!
Despite the obvious differences between Union & League, the modern version of Union uses a lot more shape & structure in âopenâ play, I.e. from rucks. Often times this is only one or two structures per team, from which each set play carries a number of different variations and outcomes. This play is run repeatedly, but different choices are taken by the players to open up holes and attack space with misdirection. This is not that dissimilar to League, the big difference is that in open play you have to earn the right to run a play and give time for players to get into the right position.
My vision, and I hope Big Antâs, is this:
1. Select a Set Play
Using the directional pad, pick your set play:
Favourite (assigned in team management, one button press to go to your standard shape)
Forwards Sub Menu
Backs Sub Menu
Kick Sub Menu
Examples to assign (obviously the options are endless!):
- Backs
- Play off 9 (classic France)
- Play off 10 (traditional)
- Loop 10 off 12 (e.g. Ireland, Gloucester)
- Forwards
- Pod (1-3-3-1)
- Pod (2-4-2)
- Pick & Go (9 cedes to forwards picking from the base of the ruck, pod in place to ruck immediately)
- Kicks
- Box Kick (kick chase & caterpillar)
- 10 in Pocket (kick chase & cross kick option)
2. Players into Structure
A key to Union, it may take time to get people in places.
Here, I would introduce a progress bar of some description. From the moment you select your play, the bar shows on screen and progressively fills as players move into position. Of course, when selected from a set piece your bar is immediately full and players are in position. However, in open play itâs more technical. Kicking & Forwards structures come together very quickly whenever selected, but back play requires more. The key is that you have to earn the right to attack in your structure, especially when you want to play expansively. This is where forward play becomes more important in the game.
If you select a Backs set play, your forwards become vital in setting it up. While the bar fills, you have to run at least a couple of phases to create a platform. This not only gives you time for the backs to set up in the background, but it also creates a genuinely important battle for momentum. If the forwards are dominant when carrying, the defensive line isnât as organised and is on the back foot; a great platform to attack from. If theyâre driven backwards or nullified, the defensive line is in a better shape and on the front foot.
3. Run your Play
Your shape is now ready, time to run your set play
With kicking & forward structures, itâs of course fairly simple, you kick and your players chase, you carry and your pod players ruck. I think you should stay in these structures until you press (Favourite) to revert to your chosen standard structure. Just so if youâre in pick & go mode, you donât have to select that at every phase.
With Backs plays, itâs all about the choices and variations of each play. As above, your success or failure in getting some momentum with the forwards affects the organisation and effectiveness of the defensive line in front of you. Though really, itâs about your choices, read the defence in front of you and try to find a gap or get your big centre carrying hard to make a gap.
4. Rinse & Repeat
It may work, it may not. You might lose 5 yards or make 50. You might score, you might cede possession. Thatâs the beauty of it!
From here, itâs simple. You go again, whether choosing another set play, kicking or running the same one again with a different choice.
In summaryâŚ
Like I said, this is a big system addition, but I think it takes the game to a genuinely good level in one fell swoop, affecting lots of areas and adding greater tactical nuance to the game.
Hopefully something of this nature is already in the works, but if not, I really hope something like this is taken into consideration. Thereâs so much that can be taken from previous Big Ant titles, repurposed and used to elevate this game, I just hope itâs done in a forward thinking way.
Also, any chance to bang the drum on greater customisation options, so Iâll mention that again!
Cheers
BA never confirmed that there will be set plays in Rugby 25.
I hope they will be implemented but just preparing you for the worst
Wow, thatâs frustrating. Not sure where Iâve got that from then, definitely had it in my head that it was on the way at some point.
If it isnât, thatâs baffling. As Iâve said above, so much of what would be needed has already featured in other BA titles and it would represent a single system that in itself would fix so many of the issues being experienced in the game.
Fingers crossed!
Pass the ball to a player from the ruck. Run laterally as if you are running to the dressing room. the AI wonât be able to cope and somehow you will run around them by running across the pitch.
That Sheehan is something else. Literally ran THROUGH 8 guys
When reasonable game.
The new update has been a definite improvement but now getting constant crashes when trying to resume the tournament (Portuguese Top 10) that I had been playing on Xbox Series X.
Got as far as Round 8 and after 2 crashes managed to get through an AI vs AI game between Cascais and AAC but following that every attempt to have the AI play itself in the following match of the round has seen the game crash before finishing the match.
When playing friendlies this is not an issue but it does make it very difficult to carry on an existing tournament.
Additionally, the separate control bind for removing players from the ruck seems to have disappeared today, it was present on the day of the most recent update but now is not appearing. (Further edit at 0312 BST, itâs not disappeared entirely but has been mapping to the same button as change player when defending instead of a separate button)
New update is ok Ai still dodges and fends off a lot but itâs been reduced slightly
Yeah unfortunately mate set plays definitely wonât be in this game, everybody assumed back in early access that âtacticsâ would be set plays and it wasnât so I canât see them adding it into this game
