Rugby 25 Megathread

So for me the videos have a few purposes.

  1. I enjoy making content about rugby gaming, and rugby 25 is the latest rugby game out so want to cover the updates.
  2. To try an make entertaining videos that hopefully people enjoy and can escape their own lives for half hour a week.
  3. Its a fun way to provide “live” feedback to BigAnt, on how the game currently looks and plays from a customer perspective rather than in in-house game tester, and the guys at BigAnt can watch the video or clips to see exactly what went wrong, as opposed to me writing a paragraph of text on here, that they might know know what I mean or how to replicate it.
  4. To give my completely transparent and honest thoughts on the game, and in turn potentially help someone else decide whether its a game they would want to pick up.

So the videos try and combine all those things into 1 package.
The choice of using the sideline camera in the videos is because that is how I as a person have played every rugby game ever. You can go through my full content catalogue, any “end on” is only ever for testing purposes, but i dont find it fun. “End on” to me feels like cheating, you can see all of the pitch, you can kick to space behind the AI with ease, you can run gaps in defencive lines so much easier. Ive said numerous times in videos, “playing the game in end on [in my opinion] is playing the game in easy mode”

Im fully aware in the social media scene that being negative is always a bigger view pull, than being positive, thats just the state of the internet in the modern day. But playing on side camera isnt some purposeful attempt to put the game in a bad light for more views. Ive certainly become far more cynical about the game post launch, but thats mainly because to me the gameplay changes keep feeling worse than it was in EA :joy:
But the videos arent designed to make the game look worse. I COULD record 5 matches, and edit all the worst bits together, then post that video and say thats my experience. But i dont, i play 1 match, try to leave as much of it in as possible (except when is just 10 rucks in a row or something else boring) and let the audience ses that experience and decide whether that gameplay was enjoy able enough for themselves.

But theres a couple of other things worth touching on with the cameras. Before Rugby 25 came out I honestly thought about 90% of people played side camera in rugby games, because its the best representation of how the game looks on TV translated in to a game. It was in this very FAQ page where I found out I had been wrong about that my whole life with more people playing “end on” in basically every rugby game ever.
So in actuality whats happenned, is ive stumbled in to basically being one of the only content creators who represents the customer base who play the game side on. Seen other CC’s videos like BearsGamer, Rugby Guru, SammyX2, CW, Odd1x. All play end on. So if you were looking to buy a new rugby game but you dont like end on, you might not even know Rugby 25 has the option of a side camera if not for my videos. But also, if there are bugs caused by side camera, the audience/customers need to be aware by watching the videos these bugs exist, otherwise they are never caught, and then people pick up the game and experience all sorts of problems.

I remember when it got revealed that BigAnt were focussing the game to be played end on. And understanding like 60% play end on, theres some level of logic to it. BUT, ultimately I think its a stupid idea. I cant ever imagine hearing the guys developing a new Forza game say “were going to prioritise how the game works, when only driving in cockpit camera view”. So anyone who plays racing games from a 3rd person view behind the car is screwed, with a broken mess of a game .
Camera angle to me as a consumer shouldnt be prioritised, should be as equal as possible accross the board. And therefor it shouldnt be my responsibility to play a game (that costs money), in a way I dont enjoy, in order for it to be represented “better”, when im part the customer base BigAnt says isnt their priority.

Final point is how much does side camera impact the bugs? There certainly are bugs that are actively worse on side camera, some even exclusive. I have found a good handful of full on exploits, that I have specifially kept out of videos and the FAQ page so people wouldnt exploit them in multiplayer, and contacted the BigAnt guys directly about for them to patch without anyone ever knowing.
So there are issues that come from the side camera. But then there are other bugs, like at Scrums, Lineouts, Conversions, cutscenes. That I just dont believe can be the result of your camera choice. I also play side camera on the PC version, and the Xbox version, and on some updates have WILDLY different experiences. Game feels like it changes from person to person. But to me end on doesnt make it better. It just makes it easier, and so you dont face the issues.

So does side camera allow the absolute best representation of the game, when that camera isnt the priority for BA. Probably not. But the videos are absolutely the fairest representation of my experience as a customer playing their game the way I would play any rugby game. It just so happens my experience can reach 1000s of people. If you can watch my videos and think “this makes the game look really bad with all this broken stuff in it”. Then that thats BigAnts job to fix. BigAnt are fully aware of the channel, fully aware 1000s of potential customers every month watch to see whether they think its good enough to buy. They by no means have to make any changes just to make my personal experience better, certainly not at the cost of other players.
But I play the game duting videos exactly how I would play whether I would make videos or not, and give the most honest representation of my experience playing the game that way. For every 1 of me showcasing the issues, there might be 1000 people playing on side camera that just uninstalled the game because there is too many bugs, without ever contacting BigAnt.
If the gameplay was solid, wouldnt matter what camera anyone was playing on. So hopefully the updates will one day bring the improvement.

I don’t think Mad Dragon is purposefully choosing to play side camera to make the game look bad. Check out the other channels he’s listed. Theres plenty of examples showing the game in end on.

He’s not the only one with the same opinion. You appear to be playing a totally different game than everyone else.

Also, your suggestion to remove the side camera is terrible.

I really hope the game improves as I enjoy the content the YouTubers release. It allows me to see what’s changed without having to play the game myself.

I’ve noticed Bears, and Odd1x have stopped/slowed down Rugby 25 content so it would be a shame to lose Mad Dragon as well if Rugby 25 doesn’t improve.

Personally … I think they should remove every camera angle.

I like the side camera I use it every game and like that I can zoom with it also

I’m not a fan of behind camera. It makes the game lot easier to play and lot less fun

But they can keep it in as long as side camera is retained

Breaking News:
World Rugby has decided to implement a few rule changes and encourages everyone to embrace these rules without the usual criticism:

  1. The Rugby World Cup, The Rugby Championship, Currie Cup, and New Zealand’s NPC will no longer be recognized by World Rugby and wishes the countries, unions, players and fans the best of luck for their future.
  2. The only women’s competition that will be recognized by World Rugby from this day forth will be the Women’s 6 Nations.
  3. Furthermore, any nation or union that wishes to establish their own competition, will waver their right to name this competition and will only be recognized as “Custom”.
  4. World Rugby hopes that all players playing for their current club or country is very happy where they are as they will now stay with this team…forever. There shall be no more transfers in the future.
  5. To avoid potential trouble with neighbours, World Rugby has decided to ban all singing of national anthems as well as war dances before the start of a match, although regrettable, we don’t want any noise complaints.
  6. Furthermore, all crowds who wish to enjoy watching their teams play live will be required to keep the noise to a level not exceeding 50 Decibals, this of course is to keep in mind the real dangers of noise damage to each person’s ears…Health and Safety Regulations, what can you do?
  7. Speaking of Health and Safety, all commentators will be required to keep the excitement in their voices to a minimum so as to avoid potential heart attacks. Commentators will also be required to occasionally make no sense or blabber on in an accent that no one understands.
  8. Commentators will also be required to ridicule every kick to touch from a penalty.
  9. World Rugby wishes to inform every player that tackling will no longer be seen as mandatory, if you want to watch your opponent run right past you, then that is your choice and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
  10. Should your team choose to not use all of its allowed 5 players to enter the ruck, the players that have not entered will ONLY be allowed to stand in the way of the Scrumhalf when they want to pass, and are encouraged to make sure that they block the ball from moving to the backline.
  11. Although an attacking team will be able to fend almost anyone at any given phase of their attack, they will be encouraged to keep the fend to only one per player, if you have fended someone, you cannot do this again and will be required to accept your fate and be tackled.
  12. All weaker teams should take note that they will only be allowed one phase of attack should they have possession. If you don’t score a try in that one phase, you will lose the ball at the breakdown.
  13. Offside rules will no longer make any sense, sometimes a forward pass will be called offside and sometimes not. Sometimes a player that is in the process of getting into position and not have any effect whatsoever on the opposition attack will be called offside and sometimes not. We don’t know either, just deal with it.
  14. Similarly, knock-ons will also be called at completely random moments, isn’t that exciting?
  15. The only way a scrum will be allowed to be won is if your number 8 picks the ball and runs, anything else will result in a mandatory collapse and a penalty will be awarded to the opposition.
  16. Pack weights and player ability will also no longer matter in the scrum.
  17. All weaker teams are encouraged to accept the fact that they will never win a lineout ever again.
  18. Set plays and support runners will now be considered redundant, we want to see how far a player can run before having to throw the ball back 30m to the next available teammate.
  19. All penalties being kicked to touch will now be kicked using the left boot, let’s keep things interesting.
  20. All penalties at goal may not exceed a distance of 25m from the goal posts.
  21. There will be no more nervous moments of defence 5m from a tryline, Health and Safety remember, all players will now be allowed to dive 5m from a tryline, untouched, to score a try.
  22. All fullbacks will from now on be encouraged to not catch any balls kicked their way, instead let the ball bounce and dribble it into touch soccer style to hand the opposition a well placed lineout.
  23. World Rugby wishes to inform all teams defending a maul that it will only be allowed to be defended successfully if All you forwards have entered the maul, pack weights will no longer be considered relevant.
  24. Using modern technology, World Rugby has designed a new material that makes the ball never stop rolling, in fact, it may gain speed over a distance of 80m plus.
  25. All seriously injured players will be required to stay on the field and continue playing until there is a break in play, we don’t have time for your whining.
  26. Lastly, should anyone decide to lodge a complaint to World Rugby on any of these rules, they will be encouraged to submit a ticket and, although we cannot promise satisfaction, we can promise a complementary improved stability while you wait.

World Rugby would like to thank everyone for understanding these rule changes and promise that it will all make sense eventually.

Guys @MattW and @JNT_BA

Please do look at custom competitions as well, not just to Name a custom competition and having different Cups, but also for just choosing one team to play with, like Career, because currently the injuries that happens in a custom competition or even other Competitions on the game (Except for Career) it doesnt even go over to the next games, guys just get injured in the game, regardless what it is, next game they are fine and ready again.

It takes away from being an actual competition, where players actually stay injured and your squad needs to be adjusted, the same with adding a “MY PRO/MY Player” career, it would just take the game to another level implementing these things.

Five times I have had rucks on Xbox and PC where the game has gone haywire and cannot move forward when a player has touched the ball and collected it after it has gone dead.

Rucks are still broken….. I get penalised for breaking the line when I have three players standing there waiting for the first front 5 player to arrive and I get turned over when behind the defensive line with support and them being lucky props and a hooker were close.

LWATCH SOME REAL RUGBY UNION AND PLAY SOME PREVIOUS RUGBY GAMES!!!

If this is true …i dont want nobody complaining that the game is trash :sweat_smile::sweat_smile:
