Rugby 25 Megathread

Is there any news about a major update that will improve several game mechanics? It’s appreciated that the game gets a little better every Wednesday, but it’s about time we had a proper product. I’m not asking for the best rugby video game ever, I just want a fun game.

Been away from this forum a few days, not sure what some of this chat is, is it severe confusion or poor trolling. Im ignoring regardless.

Had a few games today and actually had some fun with it. Some tightly contested games.

Most of my gripes have been pointed out by others. So i wont delve too deep.

Player stats need to play a bigger roll in my opinion. Only players with high kicking attributes should be able to preform 50/22s. I also think with bumps/fends/sidesteps, players should have increased success if their attributes suggest as much. You could add another level to this and have higher/lower success depending on the oposition players attributes, Could help punish mismatches. I also think with this you could add knockons/dropped balls if you attempt a move against the wrong player. For example, wingers side stepping front rowers should be easy, However a winger trying to bump a front rower should be punished with a dominant hit, or injury, or knockon.

I mentioned back in ea1 about momentum, and how good it was in rwc2011. Making meters, whether attack or defence increases momentum, increases chance of winning rucks in turn increases opposition chance of conceding penalties. 50/22s could give huge boosts to momentum. This leading to kicking when momentum is against you.

With the effort I have to put into coming here and comment after having a bad time playing this game, the fact that a bot is posting nonsense completely puts me off doing so.

Please fix the kicking, probably the only thing that worked on release and is now broken.

I would really like to see the list of priorities big ant have for upcoming updates. Drive tackle sounds like a good addition but 1) I see no difference in gameplay and 2) there are a thousand other things malfunctioning that need atention.

Don’t know if new but some kickers have they own animations for kicking goal just seen Dan Bigger do he is shoulder dance thing it’s pretty cool

Getting a Yellow or Red Card is like trying to find gold.

I can’t understand why it’s so hard to implement this unless there are people or the game publisher that does not want anyone see any foul play in Rugby 25

@JNT_BA I have this problem where I can’t see the logos. It’s been like this for a while and I think a few others had this problem. Can you please fix this?:folded_hands:

When the Ai is kicking a 50/22 and getting it out (always 100% successful) they get the throw-in at the line-out as if was a penalty. Please fix this because the Ai always score from here.This is cheating.

This is actually right, according to the ever-changing laws of rugby, when you can manage to kick the ball out from within your half and into your opponent 22 (not directly, it has to bounce), you will retain possession at the lineout. That’s why they named it a 50/22.

A good way of fixing the kicks would be reducing accuracy with increase of power when kicking.

There is now a small circle used to aim the kick. It would be nice to have that cicle going bigger and bigger as we charge the kick to get more distance, and somehow randomise where the ball would fall inside that circle.
This way we would have variety in the kicking game, adding kicks going straight to touch, dead ball, or staying inside the field and just giving posession to the other team.

This would have to apply to the AI too, of course. Problem solved.

Hi Team,

Just on High Tackles. PS5 Hardest Difficulty.
They are happening, a little bit but only as myself controlling the players or team. Seen 2 incidents out of 4 games played. Just wanted to give some feedback on this post patch as I have no idea if this was updated under General Optimisation from patch notes.

Played 4 games last 2 days , still seen none from the Ai in those matches.

I’m finding 50/22 from the AI are no longer registering as a 50/22, instead I keep getting awarded the lineouts.

Scrums still seem broken, I’ve only ever been able to successfully complete 1 scrum without it collapsing and awarding a penalty.

Ai kicking the ball out bang on 80 min regardless of the score is frustrating for realism reasons.

There’s clearly improvement but man it’s still so frustrating to play.

I play on PS5.

Your English is excellent, and your points extremely valid. It’s time we had a patch to resolve the multiple anomalies that are making the game frustrating to play.

whats better xbox or pc, are there any more features on pc that you cant access on xbox around logo customisation etc

Some things have crept in over the last few patches that need addressed as soon as possible. Many involve scoring and the in-goal area.

The constant “held up” calls even when you ground the ball if a defensive player has tackled you (despite you clearly grounding it).

If you ground the ball for a try safely in the in-goal, but momentum takes you over the lines out of the field of play, then you lose the try.

If you grubber kick ahead into the in-goal and chase for the ball, if you go for the dive but the AI gets there first for half a second and grounds it, then you can still get the try given by grounding it after them (almost diving through them at times).

Then I had a couple of situations like this one, where a defensive player had tackled one of my players somewhere near halfway, but I got away the off-load. I made a good run to about 10m out. The AI won the ball back and booted it back down field, where the defensive player I’d mentioned was on his way back from getting up off the ground and caught the ball from about 20m off-side, then he ran the rest of the way, scored a try and it was legal apparently.

Also, if you carry the ball back inside your 22, then realizing you can’t kick for touch on the full, you play out another ruck or two and then go to clear, you still will get the kick taken back to where it was kicked from. It was my understanding that you can’t kick it out on the full if you carry it back and kick, I wasn’t aware it went on for subsequent rucks.

I really hope someone is looking at correcting these and other issues.

Yes, especially your last paragraph about kicking inside your 22, far form being realistic.

Also, I can add a new situation: I stole a ball in a ruck inside the AI’s 5-meter line, so I dived afterward to score the try. My player made all the expected moves in that situation: he grounded the ball and threw it in the air in celebration. The try wasn’t awarded, and the opponent took the ball while it was still in the air and continued playing from their own in-goal zone.

This is the “score a try, throw the ball in the air, opposition catches it, No Try!” bug.

Can’t believe this is still there after months. I thought it was gone because I’ve luckily not had the throw the ball in the air try celebration animation much over the last few weeks.

The held up in try line bug needs to go, playing career mode and playing with one of the lowest rated national teams to try and take them to a World Cup could of won a game against ARG but been called for held up but replay clearly shows it’s a try
