Did Google last night BA have 145-200 employees and EA has 14,000-15,000 employees

Now I really want you to post that again. But this time remove the added language or in these cases the shorthand to not actually use the words. If you cant see it on your end I’m more than happy to provide you with your original post.

@JNT_BA can u please let us add more players to each team 55 is not enough there is so many academy players who aren’t in the game maybe 60 Max would work or let us remove players for teams

and can u update the career mode start date to 25/26 season instead of staring in the 24/25 season

Hello Guys. At this point, I just hope we’ll get the unlocking of every player/ teams/ stadium in order to update the content ourself. A lot teams are from season 24/25 with wrong stadiums and errors in the players stats and positions. Please let the community work and share the database.

Ok, so next update. We internally call this Year 2, it’s where we will normally update as much as we can across a number of our titles.

This will be around the anniversary of the game release. So I’m aiming for the morning of the 13th, Melbourne time. This will be the timing for updates going forward, as it just makes it easier for us to make sure it’s all good to go.

So the patch notes are getting significantly longer than most, at least for my preliminary ones. These are changes across the menus, academy, career, game-play, art, animations, cutscenes and player/team data.

Let’s go with some new art first, since I’m sure someone will complain that the artists aren’t working on game-play.

The main menu has had a bit of an art overhaul, as it was very static and not something I would want to keep going forward for the title. I didn’t really like looking at it myself. This is a much darker theme. I like a little variation, so we varied while keeping the same overall interface.

Much like the RWC had its own individual section, all the current major comps have their own little versions now as well.

In addition to menu art, there has been some in-match ā€œartā€. After a number of months of having pristine uniforms after 40 minute halves… I wanted some dirt. So much to the annoyance of some of the tech team, we brought in some new tech for this.

I won’t show any screenshots of this, as there are some minor changes I want done on this before launch to hopefully make this a little nicer. As well as due to the console differences, results will vary, and what it looks like on my beast of a PC will not be reflective of the older generation of consoles, so I’ll let you experience this yourselves.

The rest of the URC kits are in and approved. With hopefully more on the way while we work with our partners on getting these updated. This is not something we can ā€œjust doā€. This is a long process as I work with each team individually.

Lineups and teams have been updated across selected leagues. This is not every team/league/competition, as the process is different for each one. This update also includes the stat rebalancing across these leagues as well.

For those who looked at the screenshots, you will see the removal of the RWC from the main screen and a new icon for Test Match. As some people wanted all the bells and whistles for the matches they play, as you saw in the RWC cut-scenes, this is an easy way to get those to happen with all international teams being included, as well as being able to be played at all stadiums. As these cut-scenes are for specific ones using targeted location data for cameras, you will get some interesting angles in some of the stadiums that these were not intended to be played at. But I wanted these open to all of them cause why not? As licensing is a complicated process, some scenes may be skipped if we cannot play certain items for certain teams.

Seemingly, we didn’t have the cap on LBB, but at least it’s there now, you’re welcome @Bapean

I won’t go too much into the academy changes, as there are still some issues being worked on as I type this out, but additional functions will be added, and some things that have been there and were never intended to be included have been removed menu-wise.

Your dream team will be able to be created. But you will not be able to edit licensed teams, while I know some people want to do this. This is not something that will be added to this title due to required limitations.

While career has had some changes, this is mainly to clear up some UI issues as well as some removes of screens that were just an annoyance as well as how the AI plan their team out in-game and out of game, as well as changing some ranges on recruitment and cleaups on some very unusual things in terms of players being removed quite early in the first year.

Some animations have been cleaned up. As well as some cutscenes added, not a huge amount, but some to add some variation, mainly low-energy try celebrations.

While no immediate gameplay changes have happened in terms of overhauled mechanics, like we have done in the past with mauls and scrums (no ruck changes yet, while we look at how the stats change thing). The rebalancing of stats, as well as how they interact with what is happening, was the main focus, as well as updates to high tackles, offside logic and some regular, very clear rule breaks when dealing with subs and injuries. On the hardest difficulty, we may have overtuned with some of the external people playing this update have had some difficulty with some formations, but this is something I want more feedback on.

While these are not all the changes that will be on the update notes, as I’m still trying to squeeze some changes out of the team over the next few days, these are safe ones to mention at this time.

@JNT_BA thanks for the update and planned date for the next patch. All of this sounds promising and I look forward to see the changes.

It is a bit disappointing that gameplay has not received major changes. I can live with the scrums and mauls as they are now (Although, mauls really needs a bit of a tweak). And I am glad that the possible ā€œruck changesā€ are still being looked at. But one thing that I really want to see is more tactical options, choosing different running formations (I see you mention, something about formations on hardest difficulty, but not sure if it is the same as to what I am referring to), setting my line depth and width (I know you have this somewhat in the current tactics) but I believe this will bring so much more to the game. Nice forward pods that actually will give you the feeling that you can play a forwards attacking option around the rucks. The gameplay needs variety in attack, so that each game does not feel the same. Different playing styles are crucial for the longevity of the game.

Thanks again for your reply.

Ah yeah sometimes I forget what I would call some things if I was a player. ā€œFormationsā€ in terms of this terminology is like rucks scrums mauls etc. Mechanics? Systems? Interactives? Things like that.

The game is insanely stat based. Them breaking out is usually because of those stats. As well as how those stats are modified on the higher difficulties. So many of the ā€œannoyingā€ things are because of stats and how they interact then have diminishing returns.

@JNT_BA any update on sidestep perhaps?

Yes. But i wont comment on it as I need more time with it. Feedback has been its a little jank.

I know you read stats and thats it. It’s about how those stats interact. Especially on some difficulties.

In TieBreak and Rugby league 26 when players gave feedback on gameplay things got changed. On TieBreak they got changed A LOT. Yet with Rugby 25 people have given copious amounts of feedback over a vast range of posts all around similar things yet nothing ever visibly gets done about it in earnest.

Formations, running lines. pods and tactical options … genuine ones, not just how skinny or wide your players stand. These are the only things that will make this game improve.

Why is it so hard to get the team to focus on gameplay … and no I do not mean get art guys to do game development … I mean get the guys that are responsible for aspects of gameplay to put in some decent time and effort into an overhaul rather than a random tweak that achieves nothing in the overall scheme of things. If this is the flagship patch of year two that is meant to be all the updates it is a bit of a worrying sign as others have noted.

Is the team that is responsible for building game modes different from the art and gameplay guys? Is a mens world cup mode possibly being worked on while all this other stuff is happening?

Yep and as I mentioned long ago and many times. Until mechanics are done these wont change. As every time we change a mechanic they change how they work. Also Tiebreak is not anywhere close to this.

Thanks for the information. LBB with his cap ! Yeah ! I hope he is running faster than Moeffana and every other player with the new stats !

I’m eager to see how the stats will change the gameplay. I’m still experiencing bugs in World Cup Career Mode where the game crashes at the end of every match.

Some of my players suddenly become unstoppable, dribbling past others and scoring. But when they score, it’s not a try; the ball is recovered in the in-goal area by the defense, resulting in a restart from the try line.
There are lineouts where the thrower isn’t visible, and ultimately doesn’t throw, resulting in a penalty for the opposing team. And there’s still the injury bug where players already injured on the team are assigned the same last injury sustained by a new player, along with the corresponding recovery time.
Also, players move aside just before the try line to let the opposing attacker through… who then jumps from the 5-meter line.
I play a bit every day, and it’s true that play-start tactics would be very welcome.

@JNT_BA, please tell me that some more freedom in custom tournaments are 1 of those things you couldn’t squeeze in because it’s almost there?

  • Naming the tournament
  • Extending the amount of teams able to participate
  • World Cup Style Tournament

The other things you mentioned make me very excited, thank you

So throw mechanics into that list of things that does not visibly seem to get any changes. Scrums had some big buttons whacked on but nothing to really improved the experience.

Sure you had spoken before that a lot of the mechanics are not getting overhauls? Maybe after a few years of following the patches my memory is getting foggy IDK

But hey, if after all these patches we get mega patches overhauling the mechanics near the end and then all the running lines and support lines with pods etc tacked on I am sure we will all be happy.

The way I see it RWC is next year right here in Aus not sure if BA is doing a new game for it and if they have the RWC license we just get a patch. Sad part of it will be if the game doesn’t improve drastically in gameplay on things most people have pretty much mentioned the same on since day 1, it will be another year RWC with game that’s not up to standard might be time to get more devs on deck to help with gameplay because pressure is on for RWC
