Rugby League 26 - Megathread

@Nesreviac you are correct I play AI v AI and my experience with the game is a lot different to someone who plays Player v AI or Player v Player

I understand and respect everyone’s different play styles and issues with the game.

Apologies if I came across wrong, that was never my intention.

I also have my issues with how the AI plays at times.

I do also agree with @Valhalla_Vagabond that the game will eventually become good. I think that will be the case for all styles of play, be it AI v AI or player involvement.

I think it’s well on the way to becoming the kind of game we would all hope it would be, it’s just got some areas that need to be improved.

I hope that is reflected for all different player types.

On another note I do hope that the current situation of the best person to offload to constantly being the opposition is changed and maybe when we make breaks our best support option will be someone from our own team soon. The opposition just seems to linger in the off-load area!

Obviously gameplay comes first and foremost to fix. However, after that it would be nice to see a few additions to the game.

Missing stadiums for some teams would be nice to have. I mentioned a few of these yesterday.

More advertising around the grounds depending on which competition is being played. Some of the other competitions such as Challenge Cup and 1895Cup have next to no advertising around the grounds.

This is also the same for the Championship and League 1. I’ve also noticed when playing 1895 Cup that the shirt logos remain as League 1. It would be much better to see the 1895 logo on the shirt instead. In general whichever competition is being played the shirt logo should reflect this.

Updated scoreboards to reflect the different competitions would make it more authentic too.

Same goes for the balls being used. It would be nice to see the competition logo on them.

How about adding in the NSW Cup? We already have the QLD Cup and State of Origin in the game. It seems odd not to have the NSW Cup.

Somewhere down the line it would be good to have the World Cup and International teams included.

These range from small to large things being added but I am hopeful at least some of these can be incorporated into the game.

Many thanks :+1:

Edit: Nearly forgot, how about 3rd kits for teams?

Easy fix issues .

1.Grubber kick to weak, needs to go much further.
2. You cannot sprint after a bomb to retrieve the kick; system needs a better system to try and time the jump correctly.

Yeah grubber and chip for that matter needs adjusting. Need to maybe add quick hold for strength and left stick to aim direction or at the very least make defenders react immediately to the loose ball because the current chip and grubber are exploits which I assume they know and will fix.

Just been testing the new patch out and it seems that they have fixed the defender switch function on the stick so it doesn’t just revert back to one of the markers.

They’ve also changed the ratings for all of the NRL. Not sure if they’ve changed Super League yet, but a pretty decent upgrade an overalls for the NRL. Some big changes to which teams are rated the best.

May have been some subtle speed adjustments to the differences between forwards and backs.

Not a lot else that I have noticed so far.

Sounds positive what you mention there.

Patch notes now out on Big Ant Studios X account.

I’ve seem people ask about this on the BigAnt X account, at the moment i don’t think this is working as it should.

Do the attacking set plays (activated when pressing up on d pad) actually work? Or do you fellers just run your own attacking lines via passes and running the ball?

Yeah they actually work. Takes a bit to get the flow of it but once you get them down they can help make the game feel a bit more realistic on attack.

They actually add to your attack because they often set first receivers flatter at the play the ball so your team can gain better forward momentum in sets.

So actually really good to use them.

I think this situation about promotion criteria for promotion from the Championship harks back to when the Toronto Wolfpack gained promotion based on league position…then faced financial challenges.

GET RID OF THE DRIVING FALLING OVER THE LINE TRY SCROING ANIMATION PLEASE!!!.

It’s terribly annoying not being able to stop it. The odd one you’ll turn them over but the majority of the time it’s a try. One of the worst animations in the game. :frowning:

Is there a trick to stopping it every time or is it just the way it goes.

EDIT: Question does the drag tackle counter it?. I’m gonna test it.

Finally made it to NRL with my career Hooker :raising_hands: a try and a try assist on debut! The gameplay is growing on me and scooting out of dummy half and ball playing can be very rewarding. The try assist i put my centre over untouched from about 10m out off a flat short pass

Question for the team.

Can we get a quick restart tab in play now please.

Also what setting in stats need to be adjusted to balance how effective slipping off tackles is?.

I love how it happens in rookie but would like it to scale it back a bit. So everyone can do it but just not as easy or only under the right circumstances like when hitting holes at speed for instance.

Hey mate. I’ve tried drag tackling in the opposite direction and it doesn’t seem to stop it. I reckon it needs to be stoppable or we at least need to be told how we have a chance of stopping it.

Perhaps a patch where we start to attempt a drag tackle in the opposite direction and then spam square (sort’ve like the opposite of them trying to score the try) and if we’re quick enough we either drive them back, stop their momentum and they play the ball or roll them over and hold them up over the line).

Definitely agree it needs something that can potentially stop it.

I’ve been playing around with tackles in general and the only conclusion I can come to is just hold L2 and R2 and square and hold down on right stick and hope for the best lol.

What happened to just hit tackle and the player falls on the spot lol, much simpler and less frustrating.

In the last patch it seemed like this was improved some. Yes the things you mentioned seem to help, sometimes I make a tackle and quickly (has to be very quickly) change into another defender and try to help in the tackle, it seems this will help you hold up the player more , and help flip them to there back. In the last game must of stopped like 4-5 attempts from the AI like this, but they did get 1 quick drop down try before I had time to support in the tackle.

Grubber kicks must be improved, they are so weak. Need to go much further. It seems like it could be any easy fix, just have them bounce further like in Rugby 25 or other rugby games.

As for hit the offensive player and he falls to the ground, this can happen if you time the Right analog for big hit, but it is risky close to the try line.

There needs to be a significant distinction in players and positions. That’s what is missing from games. Wingers and props has same speeds. Halfbacks doing lock tackles and anyone can kick like a half. It’s a simple but tedious fix that requires ratings and players to be adjusted. That’s why pro team is broken and not fun and to be honest any game play. Example being Jye gray sliding over terell may to get a try. 91 players don’t feel as amazing as they should. A 78 FB is as good as a 91 except might get one more fend

I was going to make a list of the new player overalls and how wrong they were with reasoning but the list was already getting too big halfway through so to put it bluntly the following are not 90+ overalls.

Adam Elliott, Beau Fermor, Ben Hunt, Blake Brailey, Briton Nikora, Cameron McInness, Connor Watson, Corey Jensen, Daly Cherry-Evans, Damien Cook, Dane Gagai, Daniel Tupou, David Fifita, Dylan Brown, Dylan Lucas, Hauomloe Olakaluato, Hudson Young, Jack De Belin, Jacob Kiraz, Jacob Liddle, Jack Williams, Jacob Preston, Jamayne Isaako, Jaydn Su’a, Jayden Campbell, Jeremy Marshall-King, Jesse Ramien, Josh Curran, Josh King, Keaon Koloamatangi, KL Iro, Lachlan Galvin, Lindsay Smith, Matt Burton, Max Plath, Mitch Barnett, Morgan Smithies, Nat Butcher, Nicho Hynes, Reagan Campell-Gillard, Reece Robson, Reed Mahoney, Reuben Garrick, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Sam Walker, Scott Drinkwater, Selwyn Cobbo, Stefano Utioikamanu, Trent Loeiro, Tyrell Sloan, Will Penisini

That’s 51 names there with a 90+ overall rating undeserved, for the most part they are older players that should be in decline stats wise, fringe Origin players or good first graders however there are some such as Tyrell Sloan that have been dropped from lower end teams like the Dragons in recent times.

Big Ant, what are you doing? You’re only going to create frustration when a player like Tyrell Sloan starts playing like the second coming of Billy Slater. Nobody is going to enjoy that or think it makes sense.

If the NRL did indeed send those stats through then someone over there needs to be fired for taking the you know what…
