Rugby League 26 - Megathread

A bit off topic now but still RL26.

I was just thinking this game as been however many years in the making? But it’s been 8 years since RLL4.

So commentary, are you telling me after 8 years all you can come up with for some lines are “Wrapped up like a sausage” and “Running like seagulls to a chip”.

Really??

I’d personally change it, I think the other duo pair sounds heaps better in game

Simple things for me would make the game so much better. Personally i think it looks great on my big TV.

But things like:

  • When holding down the ref to start yelling get off or he’s held.
  • More fan noise like chants, drums, flags. when there is a big hit the fans groan as it looks like it would of hurt
  • Little pats on the back from defending teams when the ball is turned over in dangerous positions.
  • Players that are held up by 2 defenders near the line & then fall over line unless they are running at serious pace.

Just little things would make it look so much better & more enjoyable as a player as it would feel more real. i am enjoying the game unlike the majority lol but still those little things would be a buzz.

Cannot finish a game in pro teams. Crashes before half time EVERY SINGLE GAME :frowning:

anyone finish a match (if it doesn’t crash) and their stats don’t count?? Like I’ve played at least 3-4 coach battle matches in the tug-o-war game mode and its saying I’ve played it once

Yes that has reminded me back in RLL4 you could hear the ref shouting “Move!!” and also count the tackles.

Your right it is the small things that matter. I’m not sure if you guys will add these or not but it would certainly sound a lot more realistic. At the moment it’s the commentators that count the tackles.

Also do you propose to add more advertising around the stadiums? I’ve just been playing the Challenge Cup and all there is is the logo on the post protectors and a small sleeve logo on the shirts.

It would be nice to see more ad board advertising for competitions like the Challenge Cup. After all it is the biggest cup competition in the UK. I can’t comment on other competitions as I’ve only played Super League and NRL. So not sure if other comps have advertising.

3rd kits for teams would also be nice.

Also what about stadiums for lower league teams? It’s a bit strange having the North Wales Crusaders play Workington Town in the Challenge cup at the MKM Stadium??

Shouldn’t that game be played at NWC’s home ground tbe Eirias Stadium? Either that or allow us to choose the stadium that games are played at instead of locking the game to a certain stadium.

At least that way creators can weave their magic creating stadiums or grounds so we can add them into competitions. It can be done in Play Now, why not in competition modes?

Edit: Scoreboards for the various comps would make it more authentic as well.

Does anyone know how to play Pro Team vs Pro Team with a friend, it just gives us 1 Pro team versus a standard NRL team and won’t allow us both to use our teams. Maybe I missed something, help will be appreciated!

My pro team doesn’t even let me load into a game now

Everyone is having different problems I don’t know how they can fix it all lol.

Watching the number 1 ranked player not get wins counted and getting losses when he wins lol.

Same thing happens to me

My cousin is ranked 1 on pro teams, he’s playing normal and mine just comes up with blank page

Please Bring Back Post-Match Stats – A Core Rugby League Experience

Hi Big Ant team,

I want to say congratulations on the release of Rugby League 26. The presentation, licensing, and core gameplay direction show real promise — and it’s clear that a lot of work has gone into bringing rugby league to life in a way no other studio could.

That said, there’s one vital feature missing that is leaving a huge hole in the experience — detailed post-match statistics.

For fans of the sport and players who love realism and immersion, the post-match stat screen isn’t just a ‘nice-to-have’ — it’s fundamental. Rugby league is a game of numbers: tackles made, meters run, line breaks, missed tackles, offloads, errors — these aren’t fluff; they are the game. They’re what coaches, players, and fans live and breathe.

Why Post-Match Stats Matter:

Performance tracking: How did my star prop go? Did my winger crack 200 meters? Did my half miss 6 tackles?

Immersion and realism: Rugby league is a stats-heavy sport — and the lack of post-match stats breaks the connection between real NRL and the in-game sim.

Player accountability: Especially in Pro Team or Franchise modes, I need to know who’s earning their spot.

Gameplay feedback: Without stats, how can we learn from mistakes or make strategic adjustments?

Engagement longevity: Stats fuel storylines — who’s in form, who’s fading, who gets picked next week.

Even older titles like Rugby League Live 3 featured detailed match stats, and the community loved it. Bringing this back — even in a basic form — would make Rugby League 26 infinitely more replayable and professional.

We understand the roadmap may be tight, but please consider this a priority feature request. Many in the community — casual and hardcore alike — have been asking for it. I know I speak for a large chunk of the player base when I say this feature would significantly enhance the depth and quality of the game.

Thanks for all the work you’ve done. Let’s make Rugby League 26 a game worthy of the great sport it represents.

Kind regards,
Dean
A dedicated fan and player

Is there any chance we can get more points in the creation tool? I am getting limited as to how far I can get because of the way I do these. Either that or add back in the twenty something logo slots for a kit so we can build them up on a jumper?

If it is limited to 8 slots like Rugby25 there won’t be many accurate kits going around :skull:

Edit: Even better, make the retro logos unlockable on Pro Teams or something that can then be used in all modes. Then you guys can do the making instead :squinting_face_with_tongue:

I’ve been reading this for a while, but didn’t fancy signing up and getting involved too much.

However, I do have to say that as a rugby league game, having played each iteration of RL and RLL, is very good. There’s definitely a solid game in there, but it just needs tweaking.

I played my first online match last night against a Warrington fan, which was interesting as it seems the meta is to scoot and I think, personally, it’s the only way to get your team moving. I can pick out a pass to a player that’s supposed to move on their line and they’ll catch it stood still. Other times I can pass it to them and it’s a forward pass as they end up having set off far too early.

Having spent a long time in the offline mode, I used to be able to play on veteran, if not higher, but atm I’m stuck on amateur and I have no idea why. I went from winning a game 108-0 with 7 minute halves on rookie, and trying to just get to grips with drop goals (more on this later), to losing on amateur 8-4.

It seems like any time I’m close to the line I’m not going to score, unless I go out wide, get tackled and get my winger too scoot inside, do a step, and end up under the posts. Which, again, I’m unsure if this is the difficulty being too much or if the defensive line is too fast - mainly because last night the Warrington fan I played was getting to my defenders before I could even get a pass from first receiver.

Drop goals need an arrow to point where I am, I lost a game 7-6 yesterday purely because I can’t figure out anything else other than under the sticks, whereas the opposition can be out wide, kick the ball the opposite direction and hey presto it’s over. Also, my Warrington pal kicked a drop goal from 40 metres out with a prop, yet Jonny Lomax can barely kick it 30 metres.

Stats. In game stats are a necessity, how many metres have I made, how many tackles (I’m looking at you 1000 tackle trophy goal), how many passes, how many kick metres… but also Bevan French (stand off), Jai Field (fullback), Liam Marshall (wing) and Luke Thompson (prop) are all within 3 points of each other on sprint speed. I’ve had to boost a few Saints players stats because they’re incapable of making a break. Harry Robertson is much quicker and elusive than the game has given him, with George Whitby also a better kicker than any other player on the Saints team.

Lastly, career mode. Why can I only sign players who are out of contract? Mid season moves happen all the time, and I’d like to build a super team. Give me this option. Let me try and sign Tino, Cleary or Turbo on a marquee contract, or let me sell Iggy Paasi or Moses Mbye because they are past it / annoy me far too much irl. Why do I need to wait a season for this to happen? Who’s to say their contracts will end next year?

I’m a big fan of the game, and so far put in a ridiculous amount of hours for how long I’ve had it, but there’s a lot to do to make this last another 8 years. RLL4 only lasted me a few months.

Does anybody else think they need to remove contracts feels like you have to keep paying to get points just to get a few contracts to play which not everybody can afford

Pro Team is currently broken, can’t start a match.

I think the thing that frustrates me is that the gameplay really only centres around working the middle of the field. I can’t get my Wingers involved and when they do get the ball it’s in a terrible position where they run in field. You can’t get them a 1v1 match up.

The plus side is that there are moments of greatness, getting a pass away where you suck two defenders in and spring the player loose is fantastic albeit he will then have no one to pass to.

The kicking game seems to be over tuned though, on Pro difficulty it seems like the most assured way of scoring, either via a chip kick or via a bomb. That is really enjoyable and it’s a fun option but i feel like it’s the only option a lot of time.

Honestly it just feels a bit strange, you never really get a feel for speed in this game, everyone seems to be the exact same so everything feels very samey on attack.

EDIT: Also passing is weird, outside of the short pop passes doing long passes or trying to get a man to run onto the ball ends up being weird.

I agree, especially that last paragraph. I can’t remember who said it but I remember reading on here that each player should feel like a ‘character’ in a video game, each player should feel different with different characteristics but at the moment, they all just feel the same.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still enjoying the game but there’s so much potential to take it to the next level (and higher)
