Rugby League 26 - Megathread

Anyone playing on Xbox have issues when kicking field goals? When I try it goes 5 metres and not even over the crossbar……

Can anyone please tell me:

-Will we ever be able to add and remove players from teams?

-Is everyone having the same issue where edited players revert back straight away?

Why can field markings such as this be in the trailer and assumingly approved but yet not be in the game at this point? Gameplay and mechanics is top priority but visuals have there place too…

The driving animations are one of the best parts of this game. The contact area can’t just be run, tackle occurs and you stop exactly there. The contact area should have a mix so it feels dynamic. If they take drive tackles away this game becomes very flat in gameplay depth I think personally.

If you can defend everything easily like you can in Rugby 25 … then the game becomes much worse in the form of 50+ to nil scorelines on legend difficulty every single time.

So many times in the NRL you see a guy drive over the line when you think he has no right to, I think it’s represented pretty well in this game.

Holy crap, the challenges/objectives are quite decent. mix of easy and challenging in terms of grindy.

Yeah I tend to agree I just wish you could counter them all. But as in real life power and strength often wins out in a try scoring situation.

Some you can counter and I’m still trying drags more.

But yeah I like them in the game as it adds realism its just annoying sometimes lol.

Interestingly debatable mate. I agree broadly, but there needs to be a defined method of attempting resistance. Some button that if you time it right or are quick enough to that you can have a higher chance of stopping it. I definitely don’t want drives removed, but perhaps have them contestable somehow, more so than they are now at least.

Oh yeah now I get you, a counter would definitely be good if you play online probably.

How would you have it countered? Like with a button to try and chop them down? Maybe have a penalty risk for a dangerous tackle from rolling on the leg or something too? Or just have it really heavily stats based like on strength?

If they nerf that drive too much though then the realism gets sucked out of it a bit for me. IRL you don’t often just stop guys in there tracks. There is a decent mix. You Nerf it too much and how does the AI make any yards? Or players for that matter? You would be relying on very very good AI offensive support and defensive support behaviours to try unlock lines. At that point it would just feel like a backs game and the slower forwards (When stats match that) would really have no part in the game. Goodbye UK league tactics :rofl: You must admit, that drive is SUPER handy when trying to bring the ball out from your own try line ha ha.

Is it mainly online that it is annoying for you guys?

It would be nice to have more tackle options, not just random animation.
Low legs, chop the player down but open to offload or reach out to score
Torso grab, holds the player up ball and all tackle and stops the flop trys
The speed of the entire gameplay is also too quick, slow it down a little bit, not alot, like 5%. Give the player more time to make decisions on the fly, because essentially this is just an animation mini game at the moment whilst our support runners are ineffective and slow

Feels like they buffed the footy points after games which is great. Just got 6k after a game I lost 10-6

Right now I think the biggest challenge is the lack of support options once you make a break. The game is strongest when you are able to find a gap or you get an amazing pass putting the player into space. Once that happens though you are in no mans land. Wingers don’t react and its likely all of your pass options will be Opposition players running to tackle you versus your own team. Its super frustrating and its something I know at one point was fixed in R25. Too many breaks happen up the middle. Wingers are relegated to simply kick chasers and takers.

Agree, this kills off so many possible killer try highlights and like @Nesreviac has said multiple times when you do try an offload in these situations there is normally a guy loitering in your attacking line who intercepts it. Also used to be a problem in R25.

Yeah you want support runners running at speed through gaps in the line to take the quick pass from the break. There needs to be maybe more forward movement momentum from the defense before a turn and chase as a gap is hit to separate the ball runner and defense to give the ball runner and support more space to ball play rather than stopping immediately and spoiling the play.

Would be a perfect solution especially if they then tuned the wingers to react the quickest so we get those Dom Young v the Hammer chase down scenarios in the backfield rather than a congested mess where Hargreaves is the guy chasing the Hammer down :rofl:

100% this!

Have mentioned a few times the completely instantaneous turning around of the AI defensive line once you make a break. They lose all that forward momentum instantaneously and are chasing right away.

Meanwhile your own team are nowhere near in support.

If done right and player speeds are done correctly as Valhalla has said then you will sometimes have forward breaks through the midfield and have wingers and fullbacks chasing them down, while they search for a support pass, which is much more realistic.

Ah at this stage im going to give it a break, it’s getting to the frustrating experience now where great things you pull off for a line break are never rewarded and the game resembles an U-8s pile on. If they fix this it will be golden but until then its just frustrating.

I am, tried numerous combinations but nothing.

Played a few games in the super league and as a Hull F.C fan it annoys me that pre game when the teams run out the commentators call the MKM stadium, Craven Park (Which is Hull KR ground) Please fix this!

Does your game crash while playing pro teams online? Mine does usually when someone scores first try.
