Your idea is strange. The serve itself is important in the game of tennis, but now it has become an ornament. Is this what an official tennis game should be? Is it true that the serve in other tennis games is so good that it can’t be broken?

You did not understand me about the serving,don’t try and think a video game has to be exactly like a real sport plays out,i want the ability to get more aces and the cpu gets more aces as well with added risk but if the devs get it wrong and go to extremes one way which they have done with other gameplay changes until finally getting the game in a good place this patch the serving could get too dominant cancelling out extended rallies most of the time but if you are happy if that happens and send down 30 plus aces every match and feel good about that instead of overall gameplay then that is your opinion and that is fine.
Why don’t you imagine that the developers will solve the serving problem very well, and think that they will definitely go to extremes? Could it be that other games such as topspin, TE4 and FAT are serve-oriented, with more than 30 aces per game? Do they all ruin the so-called sense of gaming experience? Is there really no solution to the problem of serving?

yeah i have to disagree with you @havastar ! btw it’s not just about aces it’s about making the serve an advantage…so also getting short balls for example if the return is mediocre and finish from the middle of the field. Serve plus 1! Plus make the serve mechanic rewarding and not just a game starter like it is now!
This is my last comment on this topic but are you saying you cannot get aces now because i am not high level yet i average 4 to 6 aces per match and the lowest i have had is 2 and they have been both down the center and wide on Hard difficulty,also the cpu has got me with aces as well.
Here my thoughts on what to improve in the gameplay:

when your right handed players has to serve in the left side, if you switch your serve style to « slice » then change again, the IA will only adapt his position the first time, but won’t adapt his positionning after that, this glitch offers you a free ace if you move your player at the left… it would be nice to fix that!

the net game is by far better now but for unknown reason players always hit the ball too hard, meanwhile a real player will most of the time not fail to put these easy ball in the court! If you use flat or lift button the ball will go out, if you press slice button, the ball will go on the net, no solution. Devs has to fix one of these shots.

first serve are too easy, that makes second serve useless. Devs has to think about high risk/high rewards, depending on serve stats accuracy. I mean, even you are doing all good with your first serve, you have to get some probability to miss it, so you have to think twice before serving an other « first serve » instead of second serve with high accuracy rate, or slice shot instead of flat shot for example.

also devs has to nerf return, especially when your first serve is perfect or almost, with lower accuracy return, or higher ball (like reflex shot), depending the situation. Still in high risk/high reward, if you hit a first serve than can miss, the return will be harder.

we noticed that stamina doesnt really affect the way you play, but if you are not Nadal or Djokovic, most of players can’t keep the same level in a long match, especially if you have to play many long matches in a row in “My Career”

for double gameplay i dont know if it has been fixed, but ia should be improved, they make to much time at repositioning after the serve, but some other people can develop this better than me.
Some features that can be changed to be more realistic:
- Celebrations, there are signature moves, why not signature celebration? Djokovic playing violin, Medvedev doing dead fish… obviously we should not see these celebration in all games, but from time to time, especially in my career after winning a slam for example.
- When the ball hit the net, would be more immersive to see players apologizing with their hand.
- Ofc having woman voice for woman chair umpire, line judges, better clay court…

Totally disagree with you, it seems like you dont care about the gameplay being bad just so they leave the unrealistic extra long rallies. Serve and returns cleary needs a big change and many others already said it plus the game is still lacking the risk/rewards on aiming and timing

I agree with you. Serve/return system is horrendous and is nowhere near by real tennis. Also every match on Expert is possible to win easily just by playing drop shots from return or after return of AI cause AI still can’t make up how to punish bad drop shot or how to play final volley. Even though last update improved it AI still makes too many silly errors nearby/at the net.
@JNT_BA please, be focused on that.

That’s not only about Aces.
You can make “winners” serve, that means your opponent can touch the ball, but fail to return it.
Or 1st/2nd serve + 1, your opponent return the ball, but the way he returns gives you a big advantage to win right after.
It’s ok to return a good serve, but currently, when you return the ball, it’s like all players are prime Djokovic that can winning return against Isner… LOL
Honestly, the game is on the good way to be an excellent tennis game, and i previously explained the main issue imo, after that the gameplay will be for me almost perfect.

Federer strokes are heavily nerfed. Getting the ball to the baseline with top spin shots is quite hard. I have been thinking the game is bugged but the other day I played with Djokovic and its so easy to get to baseline corners. Why they do Federer like that

Hi @JNT_BA . I hope that in some future update you bring back the slice, i miss it the matches. I also hope that you apply to each tennis player their Own game caracteristic , because it seems that they are all the same, this makes the game uninteresting over time. I love the game and recognize that they are improving with each update and i hope it improves even more

Serve speed seems broken with this latest update,i thought players wanted faster serving. Now i have trouble getting any decent speed at all and the aiming trying to serve down the center is way off as i got one ball near the center line after 50 attempts and just cannot get a fast serve going. I have not worked out if we have to use a trigger for risk serving.
It feels like it’s more timing based: with opelka if you hit a perfect release you get a 237 km/h serve, if you hit an orange one it’s like around 170km/h

Yes, the timing of the serve is very demanding. Still, I don’t think the perfect timing is fast enough.

I really like how the update improve the serve, it’s on the good way !
Now we need to adapt the return + net game bug then the gameplay will be almost perfect for me.
Then i can expect some minor update on celebration

October 10 patch is solid! There’s a lot more than the 4 sentences they mentioned in the notes. For example:
- You can finally hit the doubles out lines
- Monterey is now licensed
- You can now fully upgrade myPlayer appearance in Career Mode. Before you could only change limited features
- Fixed the awkward animation shown here after the point ends (reddit video link)
- Maria Sharapova rating has increased to 86 her model looks about different aswell
- Serving speed is now definitely based on timing (Perfect 237 km/h, Green 200 km/h, Orange 180 km/h)
- Hubi Hurkacz has a hat in his alt outfits

After last patch update
The speed of the max serve is ridiculous, we have NO ADVANTAGE to serve
The guys who have the long arm at big ant you can send them the information
Already that before the max serve was useless but now we are on low percentages which give no interest to serve.
If they had boosted the speed and impact of the serve but no…
I’m not even talking about the disgusting faces of alcaraz and Federer prime…
Especially the animations of strikes it’s too too random
No new players or signature shots
But seriously
We want animation for all player, signature shot at serve forehand and bachkand
