‘Floaty’ passes were silly and the sidesteps were weirdly animated in rll4. I liked the idea of being able to use double tap to throw a flat pass that players can run onto though. From watching @MaD_Dragon_Rugby play rwc 2011 one thing i miss from rugby games these days is a designated pass to forwards or pass to a back buttons. That worked really well in those games as you could hit a pod of forwards or go out the back from a ruck. Im hoping its evolved more than that but it was a tidy feature.
Im also wondering how structured the game play will be given the difference in NH and SH rugby. For example the last union SH developed game every single team offloaded all the time, very rarely kicked for territory or kicked out of their 22, its just something that doesnt happen in real life. The ai mechanics of rwc 2011 were more realistic than even rugby 22 and rc4 imo. And dont get me started on scrum halfs going one way then passing the ball back over the ruck in rc4, so stupid
Yeah ive got a feeling r24 will have gameplay sliders as from what ive seen in afl23 they are included there. Just hope they make more of a difference than it did in rc4 .
I get what youre saying about sh sides often running it from 22 but in rc4 it was every team, didnt make a diference what teams were playing so maybe different ai behavour based on how the teams play would be the answer (albeit not for this iteration of rugby game, maybe in the future)
You are definitely correct. They have to really get the pods right and ability to pass out the back.
I also agree that when a player is facing one way, they should not be able to make a long pass in the opposite direction. Only time the pass should be available the other way is for a very short switch pass.
I like the idea of a flat pass option, but it should also punish you at times if you’re over using it, making a higher probability for the flat pass to be forward.
I think the best way they could implement the NH vs SH play style is having a tactics option.
NH teams will have a more kicking focussed game vs the opposite for SH. But you do have the option to change it yourself/adjust the tactic mid game.
I know he’s a prop but they’ve done him dirty if this is legit
This is rugby 18 ahahahqh
Ive noticed today that smyths toy store in the UK have lowered the preorder price for the console versions to £35, unsure why its so low given that the early access hasnt been shown yet. Doesnt give me a load of confidence as to how good the game will be if its selling for much less than big ants other games (Early access wont impact the price as these preorders are for the full release), for example afl23 is still £55 and tiebreak is currently £45. What do you all think?
Oh yeah i dont mean that they have insight as to how the game is but they must be given a guideline price surely? As the preorder guarantee means youll only pay that price. Ie AAA games are usually 60-70, AA around 50. This seems to be sitting between AA and high indie stuff which is around 15-20 on console. Rll4 still sells for more money than they are asking for rugby 24, thats weird isnt it?
Ive gone ahead and preordered, figured its very unlikely it will release at £35 but they now have to honor that price regardless of what it changes to.(unless its less than 35 then you pay that) Even if the game is on par with previous rugby titles i dont mind paying 35 instead of 50 or 60
Having seen the Rugby league game on YouTube I think the speed of the game probably needs to slow down a touch for rugby 24, not by much a small amount
Will we be able to adjust the camera settings can I ask?
I expect the basic model to retail for about Ð100 Australian Dollarydoos.
Then again I expect the Platinum version to be about Ð120 and the Ultimate version to go for about Ð200 with a pair of grip socks thrown in.
Those are some definite cauliflower faces going on there…
I agree. The players are kinda just floating on the screen and don’t seem to have much weight to them
Thanks @BigAntAdmin for the smile, you will never be forgotten. Drop us a hint once you create a new account
That would be mighty nice of you.
With the photogrammetry capture of the Crusaders would it be right to assume that Super Rugby is licensed?
Super Rugby has never been announced as being licensed in the game yet right?
Yes otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it.
You could argue they are only doing the all blacks players not the whole super team. But they already captured all blacks 2 years ago when they played in Melbourne (yes team is out of date). They could have also waited till July to do the All blacks new players.
But I think they have super rugby. This game is supposed to be the most complete rugby game…
