Cricket 24 - Megathread

@JNT_BA @RossSymons dec 19 patch is good. But still dynamic broadcast camera lag not fixed completely. But lag has been reduced over previous patch. Please resolve completely with upcoming patch. Other cameras works well.

Another thing which I have noticed is that there is lack of animations for the fielders post the ball is thrown back to the fielder…some run backwards…some move like robots direction less…just breaks the immersion…they need to be looking at the bowler or just jogging towards their positions etc… another thing which I don’t know why is not being introduced is the dew factor…is it because of the marketing strategy that big ant wants to introduce in the same in the future iterations… because it is so so easy to implement…infact if we have a custom slider to trigger few things wrt to time and location of the match, we could introduce it ourselves…I mean we have to decrease the spin, decrease friction, improve conditions for the batting and it’s done…it would be better if BA could introduce it themselves so that they can add few lines of commentary and some visual aspect but like the cap thing introduced in the yesterday’s patch, dew factor would be very easy to introduce. @RossSymons @JNT_BA

Since last update, grounds cant be changed in career mode and all ā€œawayā€ tours now are played at the SCG (im playing as an australian and my odi tour to south africa and test tour to bangladesh have all been at the scg). not sure if both things are connected but having the option to change grounds again will sort it out.

After the cricket 24 new update game crashes after starting a match in career mode happened every single time and the calender stays at the same date it doesnt change

So I actually play on pc (steam) and the career mode has too many issues the calendar stays at the same match date of one day world championship and it doesn’t show the upcoming matches which are prior to that event
When you try to play those matches the game crashes. This is happening after the latest patch

Let us allow to edit licensed player body/height, batting/bowling style in next patch

Thanks BA for your continued support for the game and releasing patches every few days. I don’t think any company are that quick with support and everything being added are great additions. Career progression issues are now fixed which is just in time for me to finish work for the year. Merry Christmas!!

Are you asking about the player or your team as a whole? As they would be slightly different answers.

Can we have the option to change grounds in career mode back please.

I would love if BigAnt Studios added a new auction mode where we are able to build a team from ground and use our strategy , so to check if our plan is working in the right way.

Can we get ceremonies as well in finals like player of the tournament new fireworks show beside the champions and journalists and rover cam

Plz add trophy room for career mode, that will be awesome for players where they can see their winning trophies with which team n what date they’ve won it, where they can see how many MOM n MOS they won.

Feature Request

Having played all iterations of cricket games, starting from DBC 14, I have a deep appreciation for the game’s mechanics and visual appeal. I’d like to propose several features that would enhance the gaming experience by incorporating elements resembling the actual broadcasting of a live cricket match:

  1. Cut scenes from the commentary box during gameplay and at the innings break.
  2. Introducing the possibility of losing the ball after a powerful hit resulting in a long six.
  3. Incorporating a Concussion Substitute feature within the game dynamics.
  4. Implementing an innings comparison graph for enhanced statistical analysis.
  5. Allowing for the change of bowler during an over for added realism.
  6. Enabling team building for tournaments and introducing a player drafting system.

@JNT_BA @RossSymons kindly ask the Devs to add flags in crowd like AFL 23

Anyone else get deep enough into career mode, you start getting weird dates like the boxing day test being on the 24th or a pink ball day night test in pakistan?

Haha fair enough, what about vs Ireland test at the SCG in November.
They need to remove the restrictions on career and allow us to change what we need to for realism.

Hey guys, it’s been about two months since I made my last post. I decided to allow some time to pass and let Big Ants update the game as they usually do. Again I want to repeat that I am really really impressed with Cricket 24. I’ve been a fan and player of this franchise since DB days and I wholeheartedly believe that we are trending in the right direction. I’ve seen alot of ppl say that they feel like they’re playing an updated version of Cricket 22, but I disagree. And even if, you don’t see FIFA nor NBA 2K changing their entire gameplay engine every year, so kudos to @JNT_BA & @RossSymons for their work on this installment.

I played the game for the first time in two months about a week ago and again I must point out some fundamental features that are worth mentioning and then highlight areas that can still be improved via patches.

I’m reallly impressed by:

  1. The Dynamic Broadcast video - Quality
  2. There is a smoothness in gameplay that is very pleasing
  3. I’ve mainly played test cricket so far, but the shots are very impressive, even the defensive shots look authentic - I love how late the batters play the ball. I saw Dean Elgar (batting style 7) play an extra cover drive off Bumrah. I replayed it 10 times lol.
  4. I love how the AI batters go over the top in test matches now, very realistic.
  5. The edges are proper!
  6. The reactions/speed of fielders has signifcantly improved
  7. Overall graphics are nice
  8. Great job on the player faces and body structures for 90% of the licenses players.
  9. The outfiled catching styles have improved
  10. There is more range now with LBW dismissals. Previously you mainly got AI out LBW if they played around a full straight ball. In my brief stint, I’ve see Ashwin beat De Zorzi on the inside edge driving. I’ve seen Elgar be beaten for pace playing a bat foot drive and the ball hit pad before bat - Really nice additions.

Things that can be worked on still (via Patches)

  1. AI pulls full balls too frequently through midwicket, there is an akwardness to the shot that can be improved if not removed completely.
  2. Short leg takes unrealistic catches and dives too far to stop balls
  3. I’ve seen some runouts where the ball drops by the stumps and the keeper or bowlers picks it up on the AI batter still tries to run resulting in a run out.
  4. The fielders circle the ball a bit when going to collect it. Perfect example - Bumrah bowls to Elgar, he defends and bumrah runs around the ball instead of running straight to it and collecting.
  5. When i first played in October, I saw fielders chasing balls and sliding to retreive, haven’t seen it much since i resumed in December. (was a good addition)
  6. This was also in Cricket 22. I find that when you’re bowling to AI, they start randomly trying to get out, or they start edging everything until they are dismissed (test matches)
  7. Varying player speeds when chasing the ball (I’ve tried editing it with coverage in Player Editor) For example - Jadeja and Cornwall shouldn’t chase the ball at the same speed.
  8. I haven’t played alot of whiteball cricket, what I have noted though, is the batting temperament can be worked on and if not, the AI can play more authentic shots in the white ball format - Esp the pull shot off the fast bowlers from full length deliveries.

They’re probably more stuff to note from a positive stance and also stuff that requires improvements via patches. But i’ll make more post going forward as I play more. Overall though, I think this is a quality game, and we are trending in the right direction. I’m big on having an authentic cricket experience when playing this installment and i really get that from Cricket 24.

I agree with you here. I think the team can apply batting and bowling styles more suitably to licensed players, in the absence of not allowing us to change them ourselves. Even with the fast bowling options, too many australian and england bowlers have bowling style 1 - Utilize the amazing bowling actions that have been introduced in the game.

So apparently having the stadiums not as an option to change in career is intentional, according to support.
That means it’s intentional to have 3 test matches at the same ground in India or Pakistan. Not sure the pitch would hold up that well if I’m honest.
Also intentional to have SCG night test in November to open the series. :man_shrugging:
