Hi Big Ant,
Any news about set plays?
You could create a real point of difference with other rugby games by introducing set plays from line outs. Players with set running lines wrapping around the front or tail of the line out up the 5m or 15m channels moving pods around to crest more space for this or even space between two pods for someone to take the ball off the top and run into.
You could adjust the playable area off the pitch to make the most of quick line outs to speed up play and encourage broken field running.
You could introduce another throw - straight to the front man in the line out which is relatively common IRL but never seen in a game before.
Introduce the ability to sack an opponent mail off a line out.
So much you can do with line outs alone.
@MattW @JNT_BA this game is starting to really make progress. We are past mid September and there is no update about a console release date. Is there any traction with this?
When will this be added to the PS store so that I can pre-order the PS5 version?
Tiebreak was in early access for around 8 months before release, and it launched Iām a better state an r25. Going to be months before a console release
So we will then probably be looking at another rebrand as rugby 26 LOL!!!
My best guess would be full release somewhere between March - June 2025
As a PlayStation gamer mainly (I am running the early access on a home laptop) and a rugby fan I think you are right. March - July 25 should give them time to build this out to wheee it needs to be. The game is coming along nicely and there are glimpses of the end product coming through. Iād rather itās done right and not rushed so we have the best game when it lands on PlayStation.
When will get team management to replace players from the benches that would be in line with player stamina management during a game ?
Also , will we get 24/25 Kits for most of the competitions ? URC club Dragons new Kit below. I like this one better than the 23/24 home kit they had.
Kicking for goal is too easyā¦either the trajectory arrow needs to be substantially shortened or the trajectory arrow needs to be wrestled with by the player the entire time to keep the flight of the ball on target
short quick passes are a bit too difficult stillā¦the window of opportunity for backline players especially do short quick passes to put a man in space need to be opened
the depth of the line needs to be adjustableā¦so flat, medium or deep to enable the player to decide whether they want to keep it tight or let the ball go down the line
support lines need a lot of work
i am warming to the game and there is a lot of potential hereā¦
How can we play as our created teams?
The Rugby Championship is almost done and dusted.
Hope the captured conent of that Competition
And URC is on the go to get more content
Really hoping for a small patch next week
Can we also sign up a petition for the commemtary
The commemtating skills is just bored and no variety.
Different competitions with they respective commentators.
Superrugby pacific-Grant Nisbett,Justin Marshall and Australia Blokes
URC-Matthew Pearce and some Nothern hemisphere blokes.
i would like that to have the game more realistic please Big Ant
@MattW @JNT_BA Not sure whether this is even a question that can be answered. But donāt ask, donāt get right?
Has the team moved away from āFrequent interim updatesā now and are only working on the major patches end of month?
Or is this just some lull in R25 updates that will go back to having both interim and Major patches next month?
Or even possibly just my idea of frequent is different?
Thanks
Aerial shots of whole stadiums before the match would add to the atmosphere for sure, rather than the zoomed in aerial of the pitch. Depending on how much context has been - or needs to be - modelled this could be restricted to certain stadiums. I noticed one of your trailers for cricket 24 showed a timelapse of the stadium filling up too which would be cool for knock out games etc! Would love to see Eden Park or the Cake Tin in Wellington lit up at night before a Bledislode Cup decider!
Thereās enough posts on here about gameplay and that absolutely should be the focus but I do have some other secondary suggestions that I feel need to be considered at some point:
-
We need a realistic career mode with promotion enabled between linked leagues such as pro D2 and Top14.
-
We need the champions cup or something similar as well that is integrated into career mode. I.e. if you finish in the top 6 you are eligible for the champions cup the following season etc. This level of detail will make the experience standout from an arcade game to an actual realistic rugby experience.
-
Transfers in between seasons to recruit players in career mode and build a team.
-
Youth players/ AI generated players to represent next crop of players so career mode can be played over many seasons.
-
Really simple request but please please we need line out tape in the game. Canāt have forward packs running about without thigh strapping, just isnāt realistic of Rugby Union.
Some other minor ideas:
- Strategies (tight forward play vs expansive, kick vs run, goal kicking vs territoryā¦)
- Set Plays (block plays, switches, loops, forward pods)
- More boot designs (the current design is nice but too flimsy to be the kind of boot a forward or even a kicker would wear)
Yeah that would certainly be good but by the time the game comes out we may need to have a quick way of getting updated transfers, it would be good if this game had a similar option to EAFC games where there is an option to download the latest squad lists so that we donāt manually have to do the transfers as that would take ages!
I am really looking forward to this game fully releasing on PS4 despite the wait .
If there was to be a career mode added soon I think big ant should stick to their guns and do what they did in cricket 24 by playing as cities and suburbs. I just donāt think that starting in the nrc or npc is accurate.
As I mentioned really early on. Donāt āexpectā interim patches. They come down to many things for if we release them such as overall progress on something we want immediate feedback on or if we hit something ahead of time where it could be 3-4 weeks until the next major update that we want to not sit on for that long.
While ideally yes we would like it to where they will be a little more common than they have been during this break. We donāt also want to throw something out for the sake of just putting something out with no substance.
Thanks JNT.
I know you imply you set this expectation early on , I must have missed that meaning in among it all. I had the understanding we would always have interim ones based on feedback and any quick wins that could be put in also. But then again, I have never been the smartest person in the room
I think some others thought the same though.
Appreciate the response. Iāll adjust my expectations accordingly going forward.
